Lets get the shit out of the way first - the goal that changed the direction of the game should not have been allowed. The fact it was showed how inept our refereeing system is (that includes VAR). Someone that earns more money than they deserve needs to get off their arse and take action about this. Mike Riley should be sacked for a starter.

Now to the good points.

We have today lost an unbeaten away record that goes back almost a year and what a fight the lads have given today to protect that record. It's not their fault the a Manchester referee decided to allow a goal after he clearly interfered with play that led to their goal.

We have taken it to the champions and for me been unfortunate to leave with nothing. Even in the depths of added time we are still battling away and Billy almost got the goal we more than deserved.

Today's result has no bearing on our season so let's not dwell on it. The game is fucked up right now with crap refs and VAR but we aren't - we are warriors and will keep fighting to the last kick of the season and we will continue to have a great season.

We were supposed to be relegation fodder and yet we are upset at losing to the champions, we have improved light years in a very short space of time and that progression will not stop because of today.

The next unbeaten run starts at Anfield on Thursday.

It made me annoyed in the same way all the refereeing injustices in 06/07 got me annoyed. It felt very much a repeat of that, with the large exception being the decent away performance.

Misleading perspective to be honest. There was a camera angle actually on the goal line and the ball went right across the line but not over it. Incredibly unlucky.

And that applies to EVERY VAR offside decision. They can prove whatever they want to prove, depending which frame they choose, from which angle and where they choose to draw their arbitrary line. What’s more, you can’t objectively confirm with any degree of certainty a 3D event using 2D data. I’ve read that the margin of error can be as much as 30cm

And I’m beginning to wonder if it takes them a long time to decide because they are trawling through scores of photos, trying to find one that “proves” what they want it to prove in the first place.

Of course, we’ll never know because they aren’t accountable to anyone. But doing everything in secret only heightens our worries/fears/paranoias
