I still think he's a decent player in the wrong team. He'd thrive in a team who set out to control possession and play through midfield. We aren't that team.

He was poor yesterday though, but it wasn't exclusive to him.

Why doesn’t our recruitment marry up to our system, team ethic and style of play?

Desperation set's in when you can't get your first choice players. After that you sign those who you didn't want to sign in the first place.

This isn't specifically aimed at Sander, but our recruitment as a whole.

I am not blaming Berge individually for our results since he signed but the stats speak for themselves. The situation with Lunny though I think, is also down to signing Berge (not Berge personally), remember Lundstrums reaction when he got the goal against Bournemouth after he came on to replace Berge. The money difference with Berge and the others may well have caused an issue not just with Lundstrum and may have caused some dressing room unrest. Maybe?

Not usually one for knee jerk reactions but had a bottle of red with lunch so thought I'd join in the pile on!!

Personally think Berge joining has been the catalyst for this downward spiral. You can chart the demise of Norwood and Lundstram to the day he walked through the door. Our system worked so well at the start of last season due to Lundstram's lung bursting runs and Norwood's ubiquitous pings...

The merits of him as a player can be debated but the impact of his arrival cannot...

Plus he was by far our worst player today...

I don't see what he offers??
I've never been his biggest fan, but I can see he is a very decent player........Just not in our system.
He doesn't drive forward, all his passes are sideways or back, his crossing is shit, his set pieces are shit, he hardly ever goes up and wins an attacking header, he slows the play down to much and loses the ball to much, he's not the best tackler.............I'd rather have kept Besic and had £20m in pocket.

Whatever you think of Berge and his impact on the team it's never a good idea to start selling your best players (or at least, those who have the highest ceilings) when you're in a downward spiral.

A new manager could come in with fresh ideas and get him playing to his full potential.

I remember the demise of Sheffield United from 2007 onwards. Every year we seemed to lose players who'd previously been decent. The fans usually said "I'm not bothered, he's been crap" etc.. but we'd replace them with loanees and dross.
