...from being a decent team at this level.

While GS finds his feet and tries various permutations, it's natural that the team can appear unsettled. When they gel, we'll be OK.

The standard of close interplay today was astonishing compared to what Blackwell's teams served up. We've seen more entertainment today than in the whole of last season.

Make no mistake, Burnley are a tidy team. Like Portsmouth, they've kept the nucleus of a Premier team.

Well done, lads.

It'll be OK.

A pacey striker and midfielder and we'll be ok. Then we need a small rebuild in the summer.

Agree with that, we played some great stuff in the final third of the pitch. And yes, Burnley looked very decent, they will be right up there. Bartley in for Nos, and we are a Lee Wiliamson and a quick winger away from having a good side.

So really we have all the players we need. We just need them to be fit and on form.

On the wing Jamie Ward can be brilliant, just like Yeates can be.

We need to cut out silly mistakes at the back and things should pick up.

Well no, I am sure that Micalijo will be quick to tell us that they are all completely crap because Blackwell signed most of them. And of course, he clearly knows his football, that Micalijo..........

Not a wanker though, apparently.

Aye, but I'll step in for Mic then.....:D We don't have evertyhing we need. We desperately need another striker with pace. I really doubt Williamson will return, so a creative midfielder is also a must. I feel much more positive tonight but we are far from out of trouble, IMHO.

I really hope Willo does make it back, but otherwise I agree with you. But I think we showed today that we don't have the squad of really completely shit players that some insist we have. There were some good performances from a number of players today. I think I would start with Richard Wright next week thoug......

We need to temper this a bit. As ive stated in the other thread, I think we are still a long way short of being contenders at this level. Burnley were a lot better as an attacking unit today but showed a lack of professionalism with their failure to tie the game up at 2-0. Loads of credit to United to show the fight that they did and it was great to see they had enough character to come from 2-0 down and then 3-2 down. It shows we have something in us, sadly though its not enough.....

We need 2 or 3 players back from injury/suspension and then we need to sign 2 or 3. We are way, way short and it showed at times today. Speed has very limited options at his disposal but he's trying I'll give him that.....and so are the players who put in an enormous amount of effort today. But we lack quality in some key areas and we have to be realistic. If we can stay where we are in the league with the current group of players then it is a success as far as I'm concerned. Speed needs a lot of time to turn this around.

I don't disagree with any of that, Steel. We are a long way from being the finished article. But I saw a few things today that have left a warm glow, not least scoring 3 goals in a game, and managing to come back twice. Also there were a number of passages of passing when we were going forward that would have resulted in the goal of the season if they had come off. The front players played with a bit of audacity, and I enjoyed it. I like Bogdanovic.

You've got a serious problem pal, a really serious problem. Nice to know you think about me though.

Second half defending was like a Benny Hill sketch. If anyone thinks that can be easily stamped out I think they are misguided but it was a great game to watch imo. We looked miles better up front today because a) Monty wasn't around and b) Ched didn't start. Keep going Speedo, I think we'll stay up, just, and next term it is your chance to shine.

Yes, but you always knew that if you screamed for attention long & loud enough, someone eventually would.........

You've lost it Janners. Concentrate on the football. All that rubbish about not posting much anymore, I'm glad you are, but spare us the nonsense when the word obnoxious can be very easily be put to your efforts in this string.

Really refreshing game to watch today. Couple of jars before and after - marvellous. And cannot wait to see WBA goals at OT.
