I thought he was way below par tonight, but we still won!

I would agree, not at his best overall. Did a few good things when it mattered though.

The OP is spot on about the interview though. The ''they barley threatened us'' comment was well funny.

I just wish he'd plug his fucking brain in sometimes.

He got away with a lot today, along with Johnson. More than once doing what most infuriates me with him, trying to 'style' his passes rather than making sure it reaches a team mate. This is especially an absolute no go late in games like today's, in tense spells where you need to keep the ball. He has to play more responsibly at times.

Thank fuck he didn't get booked though. There were clear opportunities where he could have done! It's almost like he was desperately trying to avoid it....

I get what you mean, but if he could replicate what he does when he's at his best , when he is simply outstanding, he wouldn't be playing for us.

The whole ‘style’ thing you talk about is something I’ve noticed with McGoldrick as well. With him it’s almost as if his every touch has to be something special, like he can’t do something simple. Most of the time the ‘something special’ is brilliant but sometimes we just need the simple.

I'm not expecting him to make every pass, it's when there's a pass he can 100% make but he chooses to play it a different way and fucks it up. It's something he should be able to eradicate from his game. He's got more than enough of a football brain to start making better decisions in these moments. I expect him to improve in this area and peak in his early 30s.

Aye, there were at least a couple towards the edge of our box where he passed the man on when he'd have normally jumped in.

He just has to revisit doing the basics of possession football well, I've noticed he can be a bit more lax in possession of late.

Not every ball has to be a 30 yarder.

And the difference between Norwood in his prime and Coutts in his, is that Coutts never gives the ball away.

He was sort of being man marked by the opposition striker tonight (Rodriguez). I think that says a lot about how he, and we, are viewed at the moment.

I’ve seen a few teams do this to Norwood. I actually thought he was excellent tonight, he did some good defensive work and sprayed some excellent passes about. Other players don’t have a player with his delivery ability. He is a key player in separating us from the rest at the moment.

With Leeds on the horizon and two games at Bramall Lane following our match against Wednesday, should Norwood pick up a yellow in the derby to ensure he’s back for the Leeds match?

True, but Coutts never really created many chances, both in open play and from set pieces. Both at there peak, Norwood is a better player all round. Only just though

I assumed Kozzy_is_my_Dad was just joking but the stats say that Coutts and Norwood ‘never give the ball away’ as much as each other

I cant see Norwood going three games without a booking, so it wouldn't upset me too much if he got booked againt the pigs.

He has to get a booking against the pigs as we need him back for Leeds.

When is the 10 card cut off? I think it's just passed in the Premier League, 32 games.

Not sure what it is in the Championship, 34 since we start earlier? Which would be the Wendy game.

Google isn't helping me unfortunately.

EDIT: After faffing about on the FA website, it's 37 games. He'd be hard pushed to go another 3 I think.

Still remember his ‘chins up’ gesture to the kop after Bristol City. He’s been there and bought the t-shirt three times now. Thanks.
