Not just a lovely goal from Ollie tonight, but a terrific all-round performance. I thought he played for the team a bit more than he has at times, put in a couple of really meaty tackles, tracked back and did the hard work. He also seemed to be under instructions to play slightly further forward and move the ball more quickly. That meant that Fleck was getting the ball in better positions and the midfield in general contributed more in the final third rather than leaving that part to Duffy.

He's an arrogant player, no denying that. He tries all sorts of cocky things and when it doesn't come off it can cause problems. But for me it's absolutely worth it for some of the brilliant things he does.
Ok I don’t go to away games but I haven’t missed a home game and, in my eyes, Norwood has been one of our most consistent players. Yes, he likes a Hollywood pass but that is what makes him Norwood. We are a FAR better team with him than without him......and I am a massive Couttsy fan. Norwood emphatically does not deserve most of the negative comments in this thread.

I’d rather have Norwood in this side for all his faults and off days than Evans or Leonard who were decent work horses but not match winners.

Norwood can in one pass produce the magic that can win a game, even when having an off day.

I was too young to see Tony Currie but my old dad, who rated Currie the second best player he ever saw for United, said in some games he would just not bother for 80 mins and be a right lazy sod... and then produce a moment of brilliance to turn the game.

Norwood is different gravy. I'd pay the entrance fee just to watch him gracefully strike footballs. Yes, he has had off games, but not very often. What I also like is his effect on the rest of the team. Players are receiving the ball on the end of their toe without having to break stride, rather than take two touches to bring it under control.

Bargain of the season.

Nope. Those bad games didn't happen and now they won't for at least another 10 games because of that goal tonight. Get with the programme.
Surely you meant to say that goal last night and his overall performance?

Norwood in the main has been excellent for us, he started off like a house on fire & I think everyone expected he would be that good game after game, but if he had that consistency he would be playing in the Premier League not at BDTBL. Yes his standards have dropped off a little recently but he was more like his normal self last night. If I did have a criticism it would be his corner taking, they are a yard or two too long almost always, perhaps Chrissy should sit him down & show him how Woody did it!
One other thing, there was a moment last night when we were defending our box quite deep that he did exactly the same thing he was guilty of last Saturday, sliding in on the stretch facing his own goal & almost took the ball off the toes of one of our defenders, but fortunately it came to nothing.
Terrific goal though & he worked his socks off last night, I think we are lucky to have him & on balance he is massively in credit with his performances so far; long may it continue.

Yeah let’s fuck Norwood off and bring Lee Evans back.

As much as we are raving about Norwood's goal, I just wish Evans could have done this more often:

Ricky loves his soapbox, to the point of irritation through his need for attention, but he makes some valid comments over Norwood. Ollie had gone from the sublime to the very mediocre in recent games and I wouldn’t have blamed Wilder had he benched him for Brentford.

But Norwood was much, much better on Tuesday, vindicating Chris and the majority of other posters on this thread which is great. However, we’re entitled to be objectionable and Ollie isn’t bomb proof.

Even better. Let’s have Monty, Howard, Legsofwood, Flynn, Doyle and countless other useless baaastards back.

Norwood out! Wilder out!

Players have bad games shocker!

It happens, even to the very best. You can cost £90mil and still be cack, so cutting a little slack from time to time should be a given. It's the overall standard that matters, and generally Norwood has been a great addition to the side. We have a few players who understand guile, that instinctive appreciation of knowing when a pass is on that other players wouldn't even attempt. We lack upfront, that's been an issue for a while, but I doubt anyone needs to tell our manager.

Thought it was interesting in the post match interview after the Brentford match that Norwood said

I know it’s a cliche and I’m not just saying this but.... this is the best dressing room (team spirit) I’ve ever been involved in.

Norwood is an experienced pro and been at several clubs. Also other players have said the same, so it’s another indicator at the great job Wilder is doing.

Interesting comment from Norwood and it points to how difficult it is going to be to bring in (hopefully) a big hitter of a centre forward that can fit in with the team spirit.

Two mentioned in the rumours section of Long and Defoe - don't know much about Long, but they interviews surrounding Defoe with England and when he was involved with Bradley Lowery, he strikes me as level headed and not a big time charlie and could fit in well.

Another "special" from Mr Norwood wouldn't go a miss v leeds also.

A ‘special’ from Norwood, a volley from Sharpy, a break into the box and chip into the corner from Duffy and a clean strike from Leon would go down very nicely.

I'd settle for a 1-0 win scored off the back of Deano's head when he comes up for a corner in the 94 th. minute .

Now , if you think you've seen some goal celebrations ............
