Hull fans raving about progressing through to the second round and laughing at Norwood just proves how little knowledge their fans have of football.

Full of rugby fans, that place

Norwood was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. Only been training with us for 45 minutes and was pinging balls about left right and forward. Calm on the ball and came deep.

He knew exactly what his role was, knew exactly where he needed to be whether it be dropping deep to collect the ball from the defenders or pushing up at the right time when on the counter or just generally attacking.

£1.5m-£2m seem like an absolute steal for him. Granted it's only his first game however it was still against a Championship side and not a league 2 side.

Much rather us have Norwood than not have him and be through to the second round. Cheers, Hull!

You're doing a lot of worrying about what other teams fans thing at the moment.

Do you have an inferiority complex?

Hull fans using rationalisation to cope with missing out on Norwood. Their loss our gain.

To be fair, Norwood was asking to get egg on his face by making those comments. All he had to say was that the Hull deal fell through and now he is delighted to be here instead. I cringed when I saw what he said in his interview with Shields, and has soon as he was on the team sheet I thought 'here we go'.

As it happens he played a blinder up until the spot kick. We have got ourselves one hell of a player. Just keep thy gob shut from now on Oil son.

Probably part of the plan to get Hull more pumped up for the fixture so we've got less matches to play :D

Why should he? Doesn't change anything, i'm sure he's waking this morning being thankful that he's a Blade.

Just thought he was asking to drop.a bollock against them. As it happens he played them off the park but they won't remember that (as shown by their comments last night) and now he is a target for the next league game.

Be reyt though. To answer Bob's question, Norwood all day long.

I guess it comes down to how he is able to handle any pressure that he places on himself. Sounds like he answered that on the pitch with his performance. However, can't take pens.

The key thing though is that his comments will go down well with the fans of the club he's joined rather than the one he didn't.

If he'd slagged off Brighton that would be different, he's still only on loan, slagging off Hull is all good with me

Well, seeing as the objective in football is to win something, that's one out the way already. Lets hope we sign someone similar just before we get knocked out of the FA Cup third round and we can be even more smug.

93 years and counting.

None of the Dull comments talked about the play during the game. They were obviously written by dickheads who were sitting at home and only knew that it was 1-1 and Norwood was the only one in ten to miss a pen.

I don’t believe that even the dullest Dull brains at the game could have watched that performance from Ollie and not been sick with envy.

That was the classiest performance in midfield since TC graced our pitch. Long balls that were flat and fast - so impossible to cut out. Every pass, short or long, in front of the man inviting him forward, every corner, and there were a lot, right on the money. Watching Ollie play and then seeing the Irn Bru wizard’s pass to Bill for our goal makes you realise that our Holy Trinity in midfield has amazingly gone up a notch.

The big positive for me was his eagerness to take the pen. He had the ball ready on the spot before their keeper had left the centre circle.
I'll forgive him the miss. Otherwise it was an excellent and very positive debut.

Over the bar. Aimed for the top corner but got it wrong.
Ironic, because he had a 100% record for Fulham and ended up being their taker:

He’s not short of confidence even if he missed. First game, less than a day in the door, first one with the ball in the shootout.

I would have been annoyed in the past, losing, but the League Cup really is a hard slog. You have to get to the final more or less to get any money from it.

I’d much rather everyone be fit and available for the league campaign.

We might be able to have a bit of a go at the FA Cup and progress a bit, but if we are to gatecrash the playoffs another 5 matches isn’t going to help. It’s not as if the squad is large.

What did he say? I've seen the comments from dull so can imagine but anyone got a link to it?

Take a lay down son. Wouldn't go that far.

didn't see the game as im on holiday, if Norwood was so good how come we didn't win .We're we missing chances .
Put a decent team out.

Doesn't help with the fact Clarke is still being picked over Billy :(

I think this was the offending quote 'They couldn’t get the deal done and Sheffield United did. To be honest, I would much rather have come to Sheffield United than go there, if I am honest'

Cheers he didn't really say anything bad about them then. judging by their comments I thought he must have said something much worse. I'd put that on a par with warnock always saying the club he's just come to has the best set of fans. Absolutely nothing really other than trying to get the fans on side.

As with some of the above comments, yes, we all have a tendency to overreact, but come on, Norwood's comments are barely hurtful, let alone scraping the barrel.
I suppose in their moment of glee they, the Hull contingent, consider it fair game to use Norwood's comments as leverage in their moment of ecstasy.

It must have made Hull seem like the superb cosmopolitan area they could only dream about.

In Norwood we, SUFC, have found a good 'un, enjoy.
