I like the confidence, tinged with a bit of anger. The only thing I would say is that most [and I stress most] pundits seem to wax lyrical over us all the time. I think we get a lot of credit to be honest, perhaps more than the rest, because not only have we got to the right end of the decision without breaking the back, but we have a unique system to boot.

Think he’s perpetuating the siege mentality. I agree we get plaudits from pundits but very different story from a lot of opposition fans who always reckon they just had a bad day and we’ll drop off

The thing that most struck a chord with me was that he is clearly tired and pissed off with all this " punching above their weight " nonsense , and so am I .

The reality is that by adding to some of the quality players they inherited , CW and his staff have assembled a squad of very good players - so good that as a squad of say 14 , I wouldn't swap them for any other in our league .
The fact that many of them were obtained cheaply and are not on huge wages does not detract from their ability as footballers and I can well understand Ollie's frustration in this respect .

Yes , there are individuals at other clubs who could make us even stronger but the idea that we are a bunch of 'Ordinary Joe's' doing far better than anyone could expect is plain nonsense . We have absolute quality from front to back in this team and it's high time that some of the so called experts recognised it and dropped this " Ooh , aren't they doing well for a bunch of nobodies " mantra .

I've said the same before, we are where we are because we deserve to be. Yes we play a unique system but it takes good players to execute it. So called experts only look at what you've paid for a player or how much they earn as a measure of their ability. Also the fact that our players are starting to get recognised by their countries clearly illustrates what good players they are.

Wendy fans STILL perpetuate the myth that they have a better team 'on paper' - obviously it's a good job we play on grass!

You never know how good someone can be until they are given a chance,to say that they are over achieving is actually a bloody insult. If you are given the chance to step up to a higher level and succeed then all you have done is reach your potential, that is NOT over achievement !!
Spot on doc,but let's keep the over achiever tag a bit longer we as a team love to prove the so called experts wrong ( pundits )

...to say that they are over achieving is actually a bloody insult.

Depends on context. If you say we're over-achieving based on our squad or club stature, then I agree that it could be seen as insulting, especially for the players.

However, from a financial point of view, we most certainly are over-achieving, that's a fact.

I think Colin on Quest EFL is already an honorary Blade, wouldn't be surprised to see him wearing a red and white striped shirt on the show before seasons end.

Perhaps they’ve been reading the views of sufferers from Bladey Inferiority Complex on social media?

If we do happen, Pele willing, to go up, get ready for repeated barrages of ‘we’ll get battered’ from spineless Jellybabies.

I think we've had praise from some for our unorthodox style of play, whilst on the other hand being cast as the team to most likely fall away due to reasons like lower budget

Having never heard him speak before and not knowing where he was from, I was extremely surprised to not hear an Irish accent :D

At this stage in the season, any fan who is predicting any team in the top 4 or 5 to drop off is a bit deluded I think. 10 games in: a pattern starts to emerge. 20 games in: that pattern solidifies. 30 games in: and the top 3 or 4 is looking set.

We’re competing for autos. That‘s where we are. And we’ll hang onto that like a dog with a bone!

One does usually fall away, for me that's been West Brom

Battered jelly babies - hmm sounds quite yummy.

We've heard all the usual crap when we got promoted from League One

If we go up I'm sure we can compete on the pitch with 7 or 8 teams even if not financially, and we can also catch out the likes of West Ham and Newcastle who are known for tossing it off quite regularly.

Any team that turns up can beat us on their day, but many won't turn up

Fantastic interview, love Ollie's passion and determination.

It also bothers me, this talk of limited players or punching above our weight.

At some point, you're only as good as the position you finish in. If your team of superstars gets relegated then perhaps they weren't that great after all.
Likewise, if a team of 'limited triers' gets promoted then maybe, just maybe those players are much better than we give them credit for.

I think Warnock’s side was, with a couple of exceptions, a team of limited triers. Very few of them went on to have top level careers, other than Jagielka. I think Geary might have ended up back in the PL if it hadn’t been for injury. The rest, for me, were good Championship players working very hard for each other.
I think we’ve got a few that would do OK in the PL if we went up, rather like Bournemouth. I don’t think we’ve overachieved particularly, if we had to sell our players we’d get good money for most of them, but we’ve benefited from other clubs underachieving. You could argue that we should be below Villa, West Brom, Stoke, but it’s not our fault they can’t get their shit together and we can.

Yeah true. I certainly wouldn't claim that we have the best players in the division by any means, but we do perhaps have a couple of them.

Our players may be limited to an extent, but I also think that this limit is actually higher than many outsiders would have guessed pre-season, and many Blades too. These 'limits' tend to rise as well, from average championship player to excellent or outstanding championship player, or lower-prem quality player.

There's also a separation that people sometimes make between talented and hardworking. As in a certain player is not gifted but is hardworking or vice versa but personally, when I assess how 'good' a player is, I take that into account.

You only get good at football in the first place through hard work, and the most talented players in the world eg Ronaldo, work ridiculously hard both on and off the pitch. At some point, I think a player simply is as good as the place where their hard work gets them, even if it doesnt seem like it.

Hard working, all together, get stuck in when it's needed, play as a team, never give up..... all this is true but, as has been said elsewhere, what really impresses me about this Utd is that they can all play football.
Can't think of one player in our squad who's just a clogger or a stopper. All have ability with the ball at their feet, if not, they'd never get a sniff of a game for us.
Would have liked the interviewer to ask Norwood how we compare to the Brighton and Fulham sides he got promoted with.
