Norwood free kicks

Mcatee should have been on the second one but Norwood pulled wank.
suprising after that is exactly what his first attempt was

Norwood was our best midfield player but has a history of rarely Troubling the keeper from free kicks

Oli Norwood sray the f#ck away from Free kicks and stop shoooting from distance.
95% end up in row Z, at best.
He hasn't hit the target since he scored against Blackpool.
Fed up listening to Kevin Gage & Asaba salivating about: there can be no one ever in the history of world class midfielders you'd rather have striking this loose ball than Oli Norwood . Only to see the ball in Row Z again.

He is a good free kick taker... just not in a match environment.

He would be a good rugby player though the amount I've actually seen him sky em' over the bar.

I think we should get Fodderingham on FK and Pen training, and make him the modern day Ceni.

Definitely the least of our issues tonight but Norwood has to get his routine slagging for not sticking freekicks in the top corner…
Every one or on a toe or head when the movement is nil

Corners, passing, full marks.

Free kicks, get someone else on em.

So so poor.

Been saying it for months and months

You can lay money on it that when he has a pop it ends up over the bar and in the stand

He has to hit the target and make the GK save it then we might get a corner, or a rebound but no let's keep on putting it in the stand. So fkin frustrating

Wonder what his ratio is and I ain't talking goals to free kicks. I mean hitting the target to free kicks?

Norwood United career to date (all stats from infogoal, league only)

Shots: 163
On target: 35
Off target: 83
Blocked shots: 45

That means the keeper is worked once in every 5 shots. Heaven knows whether this is below or above average.

He also has 10.14xg against 7 goals scored.

Comparing apples and oranges, stats for Sharp for 2017-18 to date:

Shots: 227
On target: 107
Off target: 76
Blocked shots: 44

So Sharp is working the keeper 47 per cent of the time.

Fleck 2017-18 to date is perhaps a better comparison:

Shots: 191
On target: 63
Off target: 55
Blocked shots: 73

Fleck works the keeper one in 3 times.

I am unconvinced Norwood should be taking all the shots from free kicks.

McAtee swings one in here, from an unusual range:

There's another one in there, but maybe you'd expect even more from such a highlight video? It should be something he's good at and something he should be practicing a lot.

From a defensive (!) point of view it is a little less risky to put it into the crowd than hitting the wall. A free kick gives everybody time to get back, whereas hitting the wall can set up a break in a situation where the defenders are in the box.

Norwood doesn't like having to catch up with runners, so maybe (subconsciously or not) he's worried about that? Not that he puts it in the crowd on purpose of course, but the priority may well be 1) get it on target 2) don't hit the wall 3) don't put it over

McAtee, Berge, Doyle, Ndiaye, Brewster all need to have a go for me.

It should be the same ethos as pens, miss one and you step aside (for free kicks it would be to hit the target at least as a baseline).

On the one in the first half last night, (which to be fair wasn't a million miles off target like they usually are) Enda was stood in acres of space to his left...a quick ball played would have resulted in a hard low cross into the box and a much better chance of converting.

But we all knew he was going to shoot, just a matter of "which row will he hit bingo"...........

Some say he takes a mean penalty in the park with his lad. His lad only saves about 40%.

The one in second half was crying out for the routine we did at Hillsboro that Flecky scored from. With M-Cat to strike it this time.

We need to mix it up and have different players take free kicks.

Norwood will only score once a season usually.
