It ought to be apparent to anyone who has watched us this season, that we are a team that invariably dominates matches and that consequently our defence rarely comes under any concerted pressure. Its is difficult to recall a game when we were pinned back. Notwithstanding, that we are rarely on the defensive, however, our goalkeeper is in the top 5 in the division for saves made this season. We can be grateful that we have an outstanding goalkeeper.
It's a touch simplistic to simply look at the goals conceded column and conclude that we have a decent defence. This is a defence that, because of our all round excellence - including the contribution that our defenders themselves make in attacking roles - is rarely asked any questions in the defensive third.
At a different level, statistically Man City have the second best defence in the Premier League but the vast majority of observers agree that their defence is the weakness in their team. If you can get at City's defence, they are vulnerable, as a couple of teams and particularly European teams, have shown. The problem is, however, getting the chance to get at their defence because City, like us at our level, are invariably on top of games and spend very little time in their defensive third.
