We played well first half. They played better than us second half. They took their chance better than we did. I've not had a chance see everything from 5 or 6 angles on TV though
Simple as that.

Then its no promotion, as I cannot see us winning the required amount of games for the autos, 40 points from 18 games I would think?

12 wins & 4 draws only allows for 2 defeats to get to 40, its not realistic whether we get something next week or not!

That’s just speculation really pal. Leeds lost today. Norwich lost last week. It’s going to happen, no one knows how the league will play out.

All I know is I’m buzzing we’re third and 3 points off 2nd and only 4 off top

The meltdowns after every defeat are pathetic, especially today, considering our excellent run of form and the quality of the opposition. But I suppose it shows just how far we've come.

There'll be plenty more ups and downs before the end of the season. Enjoy the ride, it's great :-)

UTB

I think we are battling for 6th spot. I’ve thought it since October and I’ve seen nothing to change my mind since. If we finish 7-9th it’s still been a good season.

anyone else see it as just a minor setback. A bit off the pace but generally Dowell did well, Madine did well, O Connell played well but rest a bit off the pace.

Leeds lost to Stoke today so it shows no matter how good the team is you always gunna get a bad result occasionally.

We tend to bounce back anyway, onwards and upwards!!!

Never catch on, sorry.......

I think about 80-85 points will be enough for 2nd this year

Not really. It’s not a meltdown at the loss, it’s a criticism of its manner. Success comes with consistency, and a collective desire for victory. We’ve stuck a shit show on the end of four good results, with some players failing to do the basics tonight. Tonight was an opportunity to capitalise on other results. We haven’t done so, and now face the uneviable task of facing Norwich away.

A draw tonight against a Swansea team of that quality would’ve been acceptable. Tonight we’ve put in a damp dog’s dick of a performance, so much so, it’s left people wondering how we can oscillate so much. It looked like we’d all just got off a flight back from a stag do in Benidorm.

As I mentioned before, if we don’t go up this season we are fucked. And that fact fuels my annoyance at nights and performances like tonight. Football at this level is nasty and unforgiving, and the players and staff are richly rewarded for it. With that comes being head up to criticism.

I thought the players ran their socks off first half, can't fault them for effort. Swansea moved up a couple of gears in second half, as you'd expect the home team to do

Spot on pal!

We’ve lost a game of football, it happens, and we’d won 4 on the bounce before tonight, and even without being at our best we could and should have been in control by half time and it would most likely have been a different story.

We move on UTB!

It was always a tough game. I thought a draw would be good beforehand.

Our upcoming run is:

Norwich (A)
Bolton (H)
Villa (A)
Boro (H)
Reading (H)
WBA (A)
Wednesday (A)
Rotherham (H)
Brentford (H)
Leeds (A)
Bristol City (H)

If we're still in the play-offs at the beginning of April then it will be a good effort.

I saw it exactly like that.

I’d even go as far as to suggest the autos are still on!

Makes for a cracking game at Norwich next week.

All part and parcel of the wonderful game of football

Course we will still be in the play offs at the beginning of April. No concerns about that at all. We will be in the top four imo. With a bit of luck it will be top 2.

These are just names of teams. Who’s to say one will be more difficult than another? They’re all difficult to beat but so are we!

We’re good thanuz? Believe it!

I wish I was as confident as you given our record against the top teams.

I think we are battling for 6th spot. I’ve thought it since October and I’ve seen nothing to change my mind since. If we finish 7-9th it’s still been a good season.

If you’ve seen nothing to change your mind I question your sanity and eye sight

That pen appeal looked like legit the Swans player had his arm up when it was struck by the ball. The flight of the ball was clearly deflected.
A weak ref today every time a Swan player felt minor contact it was ruled a foul.
He allowed them to roll and play dead just to see them jump up once a foul was given
He allowed them to con him all game long.

On what basis? 4 wins on the spin and going second in January??

Ok - We're Blades, we get it!! After years of monumental screw-ups and an endless list of undeserved shaftings we all expect the worst. Its a given.
There have been regular posters on here this season who have said similar - there was one poster/comment that sticks in my mind that said they 'would take one place above the relegation zone if it was offered'; Plenty have said 'mid-table at best' this year after a defeat. It's too reactionary and ignores what we've seen for most of the season. It's weirdly ignorant.
To be honest, and apologies in advance, but...aside of Fulham and to a lesser extent Wolves I didn't see a better side than us last season! We were bloody great!!
The last couple of years should breed new confidence in us all.

Don't let the disappointment of a defeat cloud our utterly fantastic season: we are where we are for a reason. The spine of the team, and with CW in charge, will always guarantee that even in defeat we will "give it a right go". Bladey busllshit blah blah blah

Keep going lads, you can absolutely fucking do this

[Q think about 80-85 points will be enough for 2nd this year[/QUOTE]

MMMmm I think that on the current points that the top 6 have with 18 games to go there could be 4+ teams that get to 80+ points, & looking at our away fixtures & record against other top 8 teams we may just about get to 80, as long as the home form holds out! Looking at the fixtures & our inconsistency 80 is about as good as I can see us getting, basically around 8 wins, 6 draws & 4 defeats, & that won't be easy.

it's the fact they were there for the taking first half. We didn't capitalise on it.A top 2 side would have. Norwich away will be much harder, so it's looking like the playoffs. Still a fantastic achievement by this side, but our record in the finals speak for themselves
Agree totally they were there for the taking first half.We were too casual and relaxed first half when we should have been at there throats.
Wilder in his interview said and there may be some truth in this ; was the match lost in our dressing room at half time rather than them winning it in there's ;.Over confidence could be what he means as we looked like winners at half time.we dictated the game (first half )with nothing to show for it that's true but it did look as though we would take the match 2nd half.
It all went wrong.

I wouldn't say there has been a melt down just constructive critism.
There's no doubt we let Swansea off the hook first half and paid for it with defeat.
We .do move on to Norwich now and we have to be at our best .I think we will be.
Great mAtch in prospect

Some people go too far in their criticism after a defeat, some show their frustration like many fans do and wake up the next morning with a slightly more positive outlook, some give a measured response, some can't wait to come on after a defeat to tackle any negativity and show what a big Blade they are.

Always been the same, and always will be. Here and at every other club.

It's going ok. Can't win 'em all. Didn't take our chances, Swansea did (they didn't have many either). First half looked great on telly. If Baggies win we'll be 4th. Tragic, everyone jump off a cliff!!!

Will Leeds and Norwich get that though? That's the question. WBA?

We've been the most consistent top 6 team for a month, which shows how form ebbs and flows. Leeds lost to Stoke, I wonder if their fans are looking at staying in the playoffs as a best case scenario.

Need to look ahead, get behind them and keep going.

Thank God for posts like this.

I’ll just live here til we win again. We played fine today, just were unlucky.

Prepare your tin hat though, the meltdown will be widespread!

I am not being negative (far from it) and as you quite rightly point out our achievements this season and last are fantastic. I just feel, given the standard and experience of some of the teams around us + the calibre of player and their nack of getting results when playing awful coupled with our back of not will all tell between now and the end of the season.
