So the club decide to email and text me that a season ticket holder can take a friend for £10.
This ex season ticket holder who has not got a season ticket due to work situations but has gone to a few games this season will have to pay at least £16 as a member but someone who has not been and is not a member can pay £10.
Makes loads of sence that.
I will call the ticket office for clarification.

Alternatively, couldn't you just ask a friend with a current season ticket to get you one for a tenner?

Surley you would know I had thought of that. Whilst knowing plenty of Blades, Lots no longer go or have not got season tickets themselves.

To be fair, why should they open the offer out to others? Just a little perk to reward those who've shelled out circa £400 up front.

(I speak as an ex-STH, now member myself)

Boo, I'd let you have one of my three £10 tickets, but I've offered them to someone less demanding than you from this forum. :)

It is not rewarding the season ticket holder though is it. It is rewarding meny who have no loyaty to the club.

Don't worry. Dummy is well and truely spat out on this one. I got offered someones season ticket to use whilst they were away but i did not take up the offer for a number of reasons which I wont go in to on here. That ticket is already getting another member in for £10.
Waiting for a reply from ticket office now.

Boo - What they normally do on these offers is ask you if you know any Season Ticket holders and then put you down against one of those that haven't taken up the offer !
They are usually very good!

Thanks for that. If that is how it works then I think it is very good and I should have no complaints. They don't seem to be replying to me though despite emails and calls.

i.e. "potential customers". Where is the point in attracting people already attracted to the club?
Ahh that would not be like Nationwide BS not offering anything better to new members than existing members.

Exactly. Season ticket holders are going anyway. There's a chance that ex-season ticket holders are going, and if not there's a good chance they'll be going sometime soon. However, if they can convince ST holders to take someone new to the matchday experience, there stands the possibility of catching a few new fans (customers) for future games.

Ahh I see so members don't count.

Members are going to be paying in the future for future games. Non-fans probably won't. It's like the church having a two-for-one offer on converts getting into heaven. Their current cult members are already going, and they need to attract new members. Hence the special offers.

Earlier you talked about attracting new customers now you are saying they wont come back.
Well this member having just talked to the ticket office will not be going tomorrow and will probably now only go on special offer occasions if at all.
The games that I have paid full price for this season (£2 discount) I have also took someone (different people) who is not a regular and they paid full price.
12000 season ticket holders and 3000 members. I fully understand that season ticket holders should get the biggest discount.

I like these offers. I've got an ST but always try and invite a friend who is either a lapsed attendee or a neutral. I think it's a good way to increase the attendance for specific games and also can encourage more active attendance from those that have just got out of the habit.

I took a friend a few years back. He then came to a couple more. Then got a half season ticket. Then a full one. He's lapsed again now as a full season can be a bit depressing

This offer is aimed at either a lapsed fan a very occasional attendee or a new fan, not people already attending games. The offer is not aimed at members, dont you get a discount anyway for being a member.
Remember ST holders who have shelled out at the beginning of the season dont get any offers for home league games Find a mate with a ST or just pay the normal price instead of spitting your dummy out

Im with boo on this. It would have been much better to be £10 for everyone. Members who don't know a ST holder are losing out. I'm a ST holder myself.

No, you misunderstood. I mean people not currently going will continue to not go without an incentive. Give a special offer and they might.
Let's say I have a friend who may be interested in going to a match but not at £18. If he could try it out for a tenner he might enjoy it enough to go again, at the normal price.

How many members don't know a ST holder? At a guess.

You will be pleased to know that Bert knows one who went skiing before Christmas and has kindly left Bert in charge of his two season tickets.

I have had a season ticket for many seasons till last. Remember also that sometimes those who don't have season tickets can end up paying loads more over the season as I did last year. (due to changing circumstances). This season it looks as though I will pay a lot less because I will attend a lot less games.
The ticket office has spoke to me and are not willing to help so on this occasion they have alienated a fan who was going with two people tomorrow.
Just to state again I will not pay full price tomorrow whilst other non regular fans are getting in for £10.
By my estimation a Membership gets no where near the benefits of a season ticket holder so there is no errosion of season ticket holders rights.

Whilst I do see what point you are trying to make, I don't really *get* why you don't just use someones season ticket and bag your tickets for £10?

Do also bear in mind, that if they just said £10 for everyone, they'd have to drop the price for Hartlepool fans from £19.50. They charge us similar amounts, normally more (can't remember what it was this year) to subsidise their cheap season tickets... So on this rare occaision i'm all for keeping the prices high for them.

In that case, don't bother with one next season. In fact if you've spat your dummy out that far, just don't bother going ever again. See if we care. :) (That's only 22,317 tomorrow now. )

Why should the ticket office make an exception just for you, the offer isnt available to you so just man up and get on with it and stop moaning. I know loads of ST holders that wont be taking 'a friend' me included and I dont believe you dont know anyone . Think you are a bit of a 'Martyr' to your belief that nobody should pay less than you

I'm not particularly pleased, should I be? :)

The £10 for everyone games do exist. I think you'll find them when we play a shit team on a cold Tuesday.

Seriously Boo, a post asking if any season ticket holders hadn't taken up the offer yet so that you could use their details would have got you a lot of offers. Working with an offer so that it benefits you will be more rewarding than criticising a perfectly good one because it doesn't meet your circumstances. I said before I always bring a lapsed friend to these games as most baulk at £20+ but seem to think a tenner is good value regardless of the game.

I'll give you another one, Yeovil is a family day. I was behind someone today ordering two adult and one child tickets for £21. Bloody brilliant offer that. Why aren't Utd shouting it from the rooftops to fill the family stand? That deal doesn't meet my ideal of bringing a mate for a beer on the SS but I think it's a great incentive.

Yes but why should a kid get in for a quid when Boo has to pay £10
