No signings untill the season gets underway.due to lack of transfer rumours. On this site at the moment.can see no new transfers or sales until 2/3 games into season .the billy sharp rumour is just false hope we are going to sign someone/ Anyone people just clutching at straws. n/a seems like mr cool making sure he gets the right players in, meanwhile giving the current squad a reasonable chance to prove themselves under his leadership and tactical knowhow. patience is needed to get the right players in ones that we REAllY need

havent we just signed a new cheif scout , let him go out and look at players , or do you want him to buy players on news paper reports

4 weeks to sort out thesquad , dont expect anything much before thursady next week at the very very earliest

please please stop all these ridiculous threads over how we havent spent millions already on players we havent assessed

Yep let's see if we get any quality in.

NA admits that we haven't got a squad capable of getting automatic promotion as it stands. So something must be about to happen.

Seems he is advocating a centre back pairing of McEv and Collins to begin with (not that he has much of a choice) - anybody happy with that?

If we recruit quality for the spine of the team then that will be a statement of intent. If we don't then it will still be a statement but one that suggests we are not serious about mounting any realistic challenge for promotion.

Woolford is not a player that strengthens any weakness from last season. He is more of the same of what we had already.

If Sharp is any answer at all I'm not sure what the question is.

But yes. Time is all we have to work with at the moment until the season begins. But when that time runs out and we assess the build up and the pre season will anybody be content if we are still working with what we already had? Would that be an inspiration or exasperation?

we will sign players , we will let some go

but today was the first opportunity for Adkins to see players we have and to assess our real needs

he now has some reference points , a better understanding of the competitive mentality of those we have

NOW and only now can he start to formulate whats needed

So the interview was a sham, no fucker thought to ask him what his plans were for sorting out known problems should he get the job?

Glad we've waited until today to start thinking about it.

big difference between thoughts and actions
you dont buy things in business on a whim
you dont buy a business and sack staff before youve seen what they can do

Didn't concede today so NA might think what's all the fuss for a new CB like?

We're not on about sacking staff.

If the business you've looking to purchase has no sales manger or service manager I'm sure you'd have thoughts on filling those positions from day one.

You'd also have a good idea who you'd like as well if the business was in the same product base that you currently operate in.

No you wouldn't.
You'd patiently put all of them through psychometric testing.
Then you would ignore any previous performance, disciplinary and grievance issues and tell everybody they are now working from a clean slate.
Then you would arrange a series of company days where you would put your team up against a team from another company in mock business exercise and you would put some of your people from the warehouse in the financial part of the group and the sales side in the warehouse to see how they get on.
Once you've finished that and only then you would assess what changes you need to make.
You wouldn't have looked at the figures and performance of previous years. You wouldn't have spoken to people about the charchter and capabilities of the people within the business. You wouldn't have discussed plans to grow and improve the business and agreed a budget to invest in growth.
Surely you'd start from square one. Blind and with no clue how you might reach your business goals?

hes the manager so he does the hiring and firing , semantic drivel aside , theres oodles of time to sort out the squad , he was never going to come in on a monday sell 7 buy 7 on the tuesday and be ready by the wednesday
hes selling buying talñent not tins of peas

To be fair
Tins of peas might have bean more effective at centre back last season.

As I say, if the CB issue is sorted prior to the season starting that will be a tick in he box. If it isn't then that will be a major problem that will persist.

There are only 3-4 pre season games at first team level of any quality left to work on. If you are looking to replace people in such critical positions wouldn't you want to get them in place so that they could get to know their team mates, settle in, get to understand the set plays (both defensive and attacking) and get into their surroundings?

The alternative is that you get players in last minute and thrust them into the melting pot and expect them to perform from minute one. That's not planning, that's flying by the seat of your pants.

On the other hand, if we are content with Collins and McEveley then the limit of ambition this season is abundantly clear. It's play offs not autos.

There's less than three weeks to go to the first match of the league season. At what point is it time to have any level of concern at all? Should we still be a work in progress as it starts and how far does that extend into the season? One week? The obligatory 10 games? November? Christmas? It's such a familar tune.

The teams that do well in any league season are those that get their house in order early doors and hit the ground running.

If our squad remains as it is then the only thing it will be hitting is the fan.
