Firstly let me apologise if I have posted this on the wrong thread. My name is Karen & I am today closing down my dad's account, so if you were expecting one of his (what he would call) pearls of wisdom I apologise again
My dad wasn't in to social media, but when my son set him up on the forum he loved it. He was proud when people responded to his posts & told us how any people had liked them
Unfortunately he had a stroke before Xmas & we lost him to pneumonia a couple of weeks ago. He was a life long Utd fan & when he came out of work & money was tighter he would travel from Penistone on the bus to watch the kids play at the training ground to get his fix of United
The reason for the post is to say THANK YOU to anyone who commented on his posts or liked them it made him feel involved in his club & gave him something to talk about & be happy about
For him having two daughters wasn't ideal as neither of us were in to football, but we will always be United fans because that's how we were brought up. So from one Utd fan to many more, once again THANK YOU for making my dad happy

A very sad and touching post. Always horrible to hear news like this from the perspective of a fellow supporter of the same club.
But above all, as someone who had to endure the same bereavement a few short years ago, my thoughts are with you and yours.

Thank-you for sharing those thoughts with us, Karen; best wishes to you and your family at this sad time. It was interesting to get a glimpse of the person behind the name. He clearly loved football and loved United, and his posts showed that he wanted to share this commitment with others. They were always thoughtful, offering opinions, and listening to what others said. I never met him, but I will be thinking of him at 3.00 on Saturday.
 
Well, I could only read half of that because I'm a massive wimp but best wishes to you all.
That was a fantastic post and and my condolences go out to all your family.
I said a goodbye on here a few months ago and the reaction I had was amazing. Your dad knew a great bunch of people.
I hope we go up for him this year.

Im awful at the emotional stuff.

But here goes sorry for your loss it seemed strange not right to like it, it was very lovely touching post & im glad your dad had a nice time on here. I hope he will still live through the club for years to come
 
Sorry to hear that Karen. I'm glad you found time to post and it's great to know that this place and a football family can give a person a warm glow and a lift. Best wishes.

Karen, please thank your son for setting your dad up on here. A truly worthwhile contribution by him that invoked a lot of consideration by fellow blades. He was part of our family and will be missed. I know your loss will be well over a hundred times that which we feel so my condolences to you and all your family. I am sure he will be missed by both families.

Your considered words are very kind which I hope you feel are, in some small way, reciprocated.

Sincere condolences. Nice touch posting that tribute. The Blades family seem to be losing far too many in recent years.
