Not even in the squad today. Which seems odd given that Clarke is supposedly injured and we can't score goals for monkey-nuts?

What is going on with this guy? He's a natural goal scorer Imo but similar to previous managers, Wilder seems very reluctant to give him a chance. Why?

Will I be reading soon that he's been sold without him ever getting a fair chance under Wilder, to show us what he can do?

Hamstring problem, wasn't it?

Or maybe pre-deadline week 'hamstring problem'.

yes, well spotted - when my nipper told me he wasn't even on the bench before the game I thought the same.

Shame, but if we need to free up some wage money then CW has to make tough decisions.

UTB

He was at the game in the south stand behind the dug out - shame he's injured, may have got his chance today

I would've liked to see him given a chance today.

It's a tricky one with him. He's got plenty of ability, more so than Done, and is still young enough to improve. But he's out of contract next summer. So unless he signs a new one, which is unlikely if he's not getting game time, then it makes more sense to move him on now and get something for him.

Thanks fellas. Didn't know about the injury. Glad it's only a hamstring and not flu!

I didn't realise Clarke had a knock either.

Think I saw Mcnuts coming out of directors entrance yesterday covered in toner , looks like he had been on special duties fixing the fax machine ?

Another fax machine reference from a poster. This is so funny. Never heard anybody them before.

Yeah supposedly injured

Still think he will be gone by Wednesday and on the back of Lavery arriving

Not sure Lavery will be coming any time soon...think we'll risk waiting till October when he'll be free anyhow...

Perhaps he's been spending some time learning how to control a football? A technique that has been lost on him hitherto. It's difficult to gauge whether he's playing or not, for me. His level of involvement is much the same whether on the pitch or sitting in the stands.

I have always had a soft spot for McNulty. Yes he can be a dick at times but that's off the field. He is a natural finisher and very calm in front of goal, which is something you can't really teach. He's got 10 goals in 36 appearances for us, which over a full season is the equivalent of 12. And that's with a chunk of those appearances coming off the bench. So it's not hard to see what he'd be capable of if played in front of better players than the 14/15 season (not sure whether we've got that now) and given a full season of starts.

Oh well! There we go chaps. Some of us thought he wasn't in the side because of injury and some suspicious and cynical types like me thought it was because there was a plan afoot to get him out of the club.

And the comment by Knill about "discovering" that Done is a striker and could play up top only confirmed it to me that someone in that up top striker role would be leaving.

I'm sorry it's McNulty. Won't be popular for me to say it, but I think he's more mobile and creative than Billy Sharp and would form a better pairing with Clarke - and already has shown a good pairing with Lavery.

All I can say is his off-field antics must be pretty bad to make us want to get him out the club for the rest of the season to a serious L1 promotion rival in Bradford.

Those of you who have doubted him will now be able to squirm in discomfort as he fires Bradford to promotion.

Bad decision imo!

What's more baffling is that he's in the last year of his contract & thus becomes worthless in June, added to the fact the club have allowed him to join a same divisional rival and on a loan deal - truly bizarre.

yes

nothing bizzare about it , saves his wages
If it is as you say a wage saving exercise, this raises a couple of questions...

Firstly, is CW's brief during this transfer window to (a) cut costs or (b) recruit a squad to achieve promotion?

If it's (a) which I strongly suspect it is given Brayford's departure, then is this approach going to severely hamper (b) ?

In my opinion keeping McNulty as an option to utilise when the first choice strikers are not performing would make more sense than loaning him out to a same divisional rival.

In addition given the player is ours and whose market value is diminishing with each month as he approaches his out of contract status in June, should the club not be attempting to maximise a return on the player - this assumes the club want rid & another want his services, which is clearly the case.

Cutting our losses
Pompey never came back with a bid.best we could get was say 100k for him sending him out for 10 months 40 weeks at 5 k a week is 200k .halves our loss

Surprised me that after such a supposedly successful loan at Portsmouth, they didn't make any determined attempt to sign him on a permanent deal?

I think his late night exploits are a good indication of his professionalism and personal priorities. They appear to be at complete odds to the mindset that Chris Wilder is trying to instill in the squad and hence, his departure was only a matter of time. Personally, if he'd rather go out on the piss than give everything for Sheffield United, then I'm more than happy to see the back of him. I'm afraid ability is nothing, without application Marc :(
