On the no. 17. somewhat surprsingly, Jagielka only won by one vote from Cresswell. As Jags is already in as 6, Cressy takes the no.17 in the squad, leaving it thus:

1. Paddy Kenny
2. Matt Lowton
3. Wayne Quinn
4. Nick Montgomery
5. Chris Morgan
6. Phil Jagielka
7. Michael Brown
8. Stuart McCall
9. James Beattie
10. Paul Peschisolido
11. Steve Kabba.
12. Alan Quinn
13. Simon Tracey
14. Wayne Allison
15. Gary Speed
16. Peter Ndlovu
17. Richard Cresswell

On the no.16 run off for the nightmare squad, to no-one's great surprise, Axel Smeets won easily , leaving that squad thus

1. Steve Simonsen
2. Daryl Westlake
3. Gary Flitcroft
4. Danny Higginbotham
5. Rob Kozluk
6. Nyron Nosworthy
7. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
8. Anthony Stokes
9. James Thomas
10. Barry Hayles
11. Laurens Ten Heuvel
12. Brian Launders
13. Kristian Rodgers
14. Lilian Nalis
15. Ryan France
16. Axel Smeets

We need another run off for the no.17 on the nightmare side. Lee Hendrie and Conor Coady both got no votes so their head to head is elsewhere.

Cresswell was a donkey, how on earth is he in a best squad post 1999? Have we really been that shit?

To be fair when you take Jags out of the equation, he wasn't up against much competition. Katchuoro (99-00 only), Asaba (for 2 months towards the end of 00-01) and Bromby (04-05 only) were his nearest challengers.

So yes, we really have been that shit.
