Australian/Croatian goalkeeper, supposed to have signed for us according to a few sources.

According to the "Pulse Premier Football" site (I assume he's one of their players?) he's signed a 2-year contract.

Only 18, so he'll come in, never play a game and then leave on a free in around 3-4 years.

We seem to do that alot with Goalkeepers, Aksalu, Haber.. to name two.

Cant see the problem with this?
Hes young, so wages will be low, has potential and if it doesnt work out we can move him on.
Or would you rather we signed the Richard Wrights of this world again?

I agree Kev, the problem is with keepers is that it's a position such that every mistake is very costly and and can set back the development of a young keeper no end. So even in L2 and the conference teams are reluctant to try young keepers unless they are truly outstanding so even loan experience is difficult to come by. Perhaps we need to look at loaning players to below Conference level.

The problem with this is that the coaching he'd get down there would be poor to non-existent. It's probably better to have him playing reserve games within our own set up.

But if he is 18 he's too old for the Academy, and there'll be one of Howard/Long to play in the reserves. Just a thought he could train most of the week with the Blades and play for them, (I know of one Unibond team who had a Wendy lad on loan and he still trained with the reserves)

I'm hardly an expert on Croatian names, but I would guess his surname is pronounced 'Matich'.

In amongst all the boring superfluous stuff there's a couple of great saves. Pretty impressive distance on his throwing, too.

It's also an utterly bizarre video. I especially like the brief musical interlude in the middle.

Ive been informed by the guys from the Pulse Premier on Facebook:-

I believe it was a 2 year contract but he had to return to Australia for some reason. Work Permit refusal?

Apparently this transfer attempt was earlier in the year according to Premier Sports on Facebook.

It is still unclear why he did not sign but according to the NSW Football Federation he has played this season with Bonnyrigg White Eagles who have won the minor premiership by 15 points. He has performed well over the season, playing 9 undefeated games (8 wins and 1 draw) for them and maintaining 4 clean sheets.

Ah well........... shame as he seems to look to have potential.
Why would an Aussie (part of the commonwealth) be refused a work permit but someone who comes from a country that has no association with the UK be granted one? This country is strange sometimes!

He was apparently granted a 2 year visa from what i have heard.
Bonnyrigg, located in NSW Australia, who compete in the NSW permier league which is one leve under A-League =)
