Nigel Clough !!!

Whether or not he should have been given more time, Clough can't take too much credit for taking Burton up as he's simply reaping the rewards of the past two managers. They were top when he came in and with a bigger points margin

Exactly. Leaves us with a god awful squad as his legacy, and inherits a successful team someone else built. Not knocking what he did at Burton first time round but he can't take any credit there.

It's Hasselbainks team. And they've picked up Cloughs bad habits, i.e looking far more cautious than they had to be and playing those shitty short corners.

They shouldve steamrollered us tonight but they picked up a nice inoffensive Clough 1-0 instead.

Anyway fuck him, he's old news.

The club should have given Nigel Clough more time. Look like Burton will be promoted.
I cannot give that to Clough he only kept them there jimmy Floyd hasslebank is he one who got them into the promotion run but credit to Clough as well for keeping that run alive

Being at Burton, he hasn't had the luxury of buying 30 of his own players yet. Give it time. :)

It was nice to see the fans applauding him before kick off in which he returned the gesture. In fact the Burton fans refrained from taking the piss out of us as if almost feeling pity for us.

I don't think they refrained Digger, I was sat right next to the away end and they were singing "He left 'cus you're shit!".

But you can't blame them giving it the big 'un, we're probably the biggest league club they've ever faced in their history and if they go up it will be like the equivalent of being in the Champions League for them.

I arrived a couple of minutes late so didn't see our fans applaud NC but I think that was very good if true, despite me being one of those who wanted him sacked.

i thought clough going was the right idea in august, going a bit crazy like a dicator but as the season has gone on im becoming more sure we shouldve stuck & do we want to make the same decision twice

There was also an argument whether Burton's promotion from the Conference should count on his CV. So now it could be two dodgy promotions,

Are people forgetting some of the performances last season were no different to this. He is still part of the current problem. I am not saying Clough is the solution but strike me down people have short memories.

My lowest point being losing at home to Fleetwood.

Buttons promotion will be JFH 's promotion, everyone outside of the Clough family should except that.

Which is down to those before who built the team.

You can see the team Clough built humiliating our football club every week.

Based on that our amazing run away from relegation the first season he came in was down to Weir? Come on Alco you are much better than that.

Oh and the 2 cup semi finals?

The team Clough built went from secong bottom to 7th, then 5th and 2 cup semis along the way.

He was nowhere near as bad as painted.

In the meantime Adkins has ' strengthened' the team and we are mid table

Pompous little egotist who built a clique of overpaid piss poor players

I'd suggest that the first quote is the reason we are mid-table

I don't remember a single Derby fan moaning when Clough left. They all said he had taken them as far as he could, which was basically nowhere.
He did however leave them with a better bunch of players who did quite well under the new manager for a while. However in the end they had to change the team and the manager again. Says a lot really.

Agree. Never wanted him in and don't agree with those who say he would have been successful given time. His record at Derby says it all - having (just) kept them up in his first season, the league positions in his 4 full seasons were 14, 19, 12, and 10th. Passing those numbers through a statistical test formula might make it look vaguely like progress but they were 14th when he got the sack.
