Whilst raiding former clubs for ex- players proved disastrous for Adkins in bringing in Woolford and Hammond, Nicky Adams would be a great coup from Northampton.

29 year old midfielder, hard working, good discipline (only 4 yellows last season), he's productive (3 goals, 12 assists), and he's played his career around Leagues 1 and 2.

Well someone's got to start one of these hypothetical signings threads or it juat wouldn't be the post season.

Always liked Adams from his Leicester days, we could do a lot worse that's for sure. Not seen him in a while though. There's a few decent players Chris has left there and if we can get maybe two of them, we'll be better off for it. The keeper Smith and McDonald the centre back would be great!

Wonder if CW has a "no poaching" agreement on his exit from Northampton?

It could be Smith and Ched in the team next season ;-). Everyone deserves a second chance and the lad Smith is young and he got caught out. I know a lad who plays semi professional football and the stories he tells me of what footballers do is scary its just not reported. Same as many young lads in general though.

Smith is an exceptional keeper though and if we lose Long I reckon Wilder will go after him.

Not seen that mate, but will check it out.

Town chairman Kelvin Thomas - speaking after Charlton Athletic’s approach for Wilder, which the manager subsequently turned down - said: “I know Chris well enough, and I know Chris is not going to come in and try and take half a team, but would he be doing his job if he didn’t look at one or two players? I don’t know.

“But the overriding fact is that nobody will leave this football club without significant compensation.

He doesn't. With our "reduced budget" I can't see us signing many of there players, other than those he signed on loan where their contracts are up at their parent club or where the player isn't wanted by their club. Luke Prosser is out of contract and released by Southend. Doesn't sound good but Wilder knows how good his lads were there. I can't see us signing more than one player on a fee this season, the emphasis will probably be on signing the best of the released players, or those that have rejected contracts from their clubs.

I remember a documentary some years ago (Channel 4 I think) which told of what Premier League footballers got up to, but that was never in the press, swept under the carpet, etc. It was like a very upmarket version of the Ched Evans case, but with more people involved (and Coke and Champagne of course)

Not surprised, at all. Too much money and time. So many of us would do the same to be fair in the same situation its the clubs and the Premier League who need to start implementing Rugby League style wage restrictions per team. The restrictions in the Championship are more relaxerd than ever too.

Well I wouldn't do exactly the same, my sinus's are a bit dodgy so it'd probably more birds and less coke ;)

If i'm being pedantic, which I usually am, Adkins didn't raid a former club.

Just got off the phone with the technical board and they can't discuss this until it's moved to the right section.

As a Christian I wouldn't but when I wasn't a Christian I tried to shag anything female (above 18 I might add!) that was interested! Sadly there was very little interest!

Religion is less of an issue for me, more of an issue is that I have a face like a smashed ape.
