Come October 21st, it'll have been 10 years since a fresh faced whippersnapper with delicate ball control skills, the likes of which have been rarely seen outside of San Fernando Valley, LA, made his debut against Norwich City.

Any news on whether this occasion is going to be marked with a testimonial?

And how big do you think the crowd would be? Me and how many others?

Monty.

The horse-faced Leeds-born United Zidane.

Monty = legend.

And regardless of your views, if he does a Niall Quinn-style charity testimonial then we should all go.

Agreed, i thought pretty much all reasonably top-level testimonials were charity affairs these days.

I think to properly pay homage to the man, United should play a blind team, with a ball with a bell in it. United should play blind folded................ hold on a minute, i think i'm onto something here................DOH........this is on page 2 of Blackwell's coaching manual.

Looking at it from another angle... who would we play? Would Leeds be a bit to confrontational? A all-star eleven of players Monty has played with? With the last ten years to pick from that could be an interesting team.

Also unrelated but as this is a Monty thread - FourFourTwo magazine rated Monty our as our Key Man last season.

a female journalist on the bbc website labelled him as one of the most impressive, important and underrated players in the championship, either last season or the season before..

Women, know your limits.

Provided it was for charity I'd go. If it wasn't, I wouldn't. I've got loads of respect for Monty. I have no time for modern footballers earning more money at my expense.

UTB

I would go, purely for the fact to show my appreciation of his efforts over the last 10 years. 10 years is a long time at one club, and very few players achieve it at one club nowadays, especially as a one club man.

Some of us have been with one Club for 45 years

And the reason he has only had one Club, is that no one will buy him

I would go provided I had Monty's personal signed assurance that he would never play for us again.

The game should be played on the beach at Blackpool against their regulars.

I'd definitely go, but I have to say brownie, I merely think back a couple of years or three, and see a delicious irony ;)

Could we get the squad from 02/03 together for it? Seeing players that you may have forgot a little like Sean Murphy would be great. It would also probably bring in the biggest crowd.
