Forrest aren't "letting him go" - He's Everton's player.

Everton are his parent club. Perhaps the more pertinent question would be why don’t Forest want him back considering how well he did there?

Looks like a young player who strikes the right balance between flair and arrogance. In 'recent' memory I can only think of Colin Kazim Richard and David Brooks who have played effectively with that mindset. Hopefully this lad is the next one. Seems to have the same confidence as young Hendo in net. High hopes.

The low down on a Dowell last season was

1st half of the season, highly talented and hard working, very impressive,
2nd half of the season, underwhelming, seems to lose his desire as though he’s achieved what he wanted to achieve.

However probably a significant point was tbe manager situation at Forest.
1st half of the season, Mark Warburton was tbe manager who wants players to be attacking and express themselves.
2nd half of the season, Karanka took over, it’s already been said he’s a Mourinho style manager and that’s possibly why Dowell struggled.

Also he’s a scouser and can share a car with Duffs, O’Connell and Lunny.

I don’t, that’s part of the reason I was asking the question. Although if Forest did want him then you’d make them favourites to get him, what with him enjoying a spell there and them having more pennies.

I was talking wages, Forest offering an higher % for him than us. Whose to say he’ll develop more here than at Forest? I can’t see who he’s going to replace in our side at the moment? If you look how Woodburn has developed here and Everton will have noticed then you could see an issue there? As you say though, it’s all hypothetical.

He certainly looks like he is a good fit for us & brings qualities we perhaps lack a little. Plays with confidence & has a definite personality as a player too so I am hopeful he can be a big positive for us.

I think you're understating the role he'll play: I think it'll be more than the odd appearance from the bench - in a perfect world where Duffy stays injury free and maintains his form, he's still likely to come on most games, as Duffy rarely plays 90 mins.

Realistically I think, assuming he's good enough, he'll play the Brooks role; competition for Duffy and making the occasional start. He might not get as many games than if he went on loan to lower positioned side, but he will be playing in a attack-minded side, high on confidence - something which he (and those in charge of his development) would've considered.

Don't forget as well, that he's probabaly very confident in his ability; I imagine he fancies himself to break into the squad and stay there.

You’re probably right but I wasn’t understating the role he could play because I really like the look of him, I’m merely trying to understand why he’s come here when he played well at another club who are also challenging for promotion but they’ve been answered more than adequately.
