It was close to being a done deal. We offered £1.75 M and nobody had notice the decimal. But such are our penny pinching ways we refused up it to £1.96 M otherwise he'd have been unveiled on Saturday. Got enough up from anyway !

I was talking to @stringsenior about this at the start of last season, and whether we'd like to see United at the top end of the premier league spunkin moneh on mega stars. We agreed it would be fun for a while but actually we'd rather be competitive and maintain our identity.
