Next Years Youngsters

Now I have to admit I have not seen much of the Youngsters we are hoping will revive the club so was hoping some more experienced youth team/reserve watchers could give us a view on the players we can probably come to see next season. I am excited about seeing young lads playing in our team for United rather than shite bounty hunters.

Which of these guys good enough for Division 1 push next year?

Not sure what happened to James or Chappell who started the season on the bench. Are they going to be with us next year?

I think if we can get 4 or 5 1st teamers out of this lot to add to players such as

Simmo(?), Lowton, Collins * Morgan, Taylor, Quinn, Boggy, Doyle *, Henderson, Cresswell *, Ertl, Williamson

I am hoping this post won't be jumped on by the doom and gloomers and give a chance to actually talking about the quality or lack of the players we have and what are coming through

Remembering that we are in league 1 not the championship i think scoring a lot of goals is key that has put Peterborough in the mix. So in that division realising we have sod all to send and need to sell what little we have to survive then i think the starting 11 should look something like.

I don't know about Chappell but James was on the bench at Middlesbrough, but it looked like he got a injury during the warm up or at half time he was doing some heavy stretching. James has been playing in the Development Squad alongside Tonne, Lokberg, McAllister, Connelly, there is also a young called Lawrence Thomas from UK playing in that squad and the lad from Central Coast, and the young lad from Fenevarcous we took. Some have also been involved in the reserve games.

I really wouldn't put too much faith in any of the "Development Squad/Reserve Team/Older youngsters" coming through, at least not while Adams is in charge. Look at the evidence, none of them have been able to break into a first team that’s won only twice in 20 matches. A team that was leaking goals heavily while failing to create many chances and hardly scoring. They’re all aged 20-22 but 18 year olds who play in their position are now being selected ahead of them. Gardos and Thomas can’t even get in the reserve team playing tonight, despite several “Younger Youngsters” being promoted and fringe players being released.

I still remember Adams being asked about the Two Norwegian lads “he” was signing and his reply was “They’re for the Development Squad. They’re not my signings”. It was clear then that he wasn’t going to play them in any matches where the result actually matters. Yet people are now expecting him to build the team around them next season? I hope I’m wrong but I just can’t see it happening. The vast majority will have gone by next Christmas.

Exactly. A good case in point. He waits four months to get on the bench. Plays FOUR minutes against Middlesborough. Then he's dropped from the first team squad to make way for Slew, Harriot and Philliskirk. If Adams had any faith in him, he'd have been getting selected ahead of Bent weeks ago.

Dunno. Bergen said he’d been playing up front for the Reserves because “they're short of forwards” (which is a fine way to develop players ready to challenge for the first team I’m sure).
Let’s face it, even if he’s a left-sided player Adams has picked Jordan, Mattock, Lowton, Lowry, Williamson, Creswell and Bogdanovich ahead of him since he arrived.
Most of them are on loan and/or out of position. It's just my hunch that Adams won't be building a team around him and he's apparently the pick of the crop.

The actual post I made was just mention some of the players that are at the development squad, I don't know enough about them personally, James is the only one I do know about. I think it would be interesting to get a view of someone who has seen them.
I actually expect to see some of them getting used in and around the first team squad and some being used for back up rolls, I don't think alot of them will just instantly walk in and be our starting 11, but as you said it would be nice for them to be able to do that. Back up rolls for a few of them will be more likely because I can't see us splashing cash around for loanees like the last 2 seasons.

As for Tonne, from what I've seen on the website he seems to have scored a few in the reserves, with McAllister being the one who seems to be a heavy provider of assists, but untill we at least get a glimpse of them reports are all we have to go on.
