Just had a quick look at the league fixtures and I think we have got a great chance of winning all 4 games.
Peterborough will be a tough game, they will be very physical and direct under Graham Westley, but I think on recent showings we have it in our lockers to be able to counteract act that and beat them. I think we will win, but it will be tight and we should just scrape it.
Then on paper Colchester away, Swimdon home and Bury away are all winnable fixtures, but this is the key thing here, earlier on in the season I would have had my doubts, but going in to these types of fixture on the back of a winning run, confidence will be high and the players will be pulling together, and I think that is what will get us through these 3 games.
I think a haul of at least 9 points should be the bare minimum we are looking at, and 12 is very achievable. What is most important for me is that we beat Peterborough as it will get us ahead of them with a game in hand, and then the following three games are all vitally important as they are a good opportunity to get in to a play off spot, and lay down the foundations for the last few months of the season.
Theoretically, should we do well in the next 4 games, we could be looking at only being 6 points behind the automatic places, in a great run of form, and starting to apply a bit of pressure on the sides in and around the top spots.
What is critical for me now, is that Nigel Adkins has fashioned a side out of all the mish mash of a first team squad he inherited and seems to know what his best side is, and is starting to get the best out of what he has got. I think he should be looking at keeping this side in place and rotating and resting as little as possible, as now he has a settled first XI, the players in that side are beginning to play with the freedom of confidence.
It may be a bit early to talk about automatic promotion as there is still a long way to go, and there will be blips, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we can have a strong end to the season, and go in to the play offs full of confidence and in great form, and for once we may be able to lay that particular fucking monkey to rest for good.
