Just had a quick look at the league fixtures and I think we have got a great chance of winning all 4 games.

Peterborough will be a tough game, they will be very physical and direct under Graham Westley, but I think on recent showings we have it in our lockers to be able to counteract act that and beat them. I think we will win, but it will be tight and we should just scrape it.

Then on paper Colchester away, Swimdon home and Bury away are all winnable fixtures, but this is the key thing here, earlier on in the season I would have had my doubts, but going in to these types of fixture on the back of a winning run, confidence will be high and the players will be pulling together, and I think that is what will get us through these 3 games.

I think a haul of at least 9 points should be the bare minimum we are looking at, and 12 is very achievable. What is most important for me is that we beat Peterborough as it will get us ahead of them with a game in hand, and then the following three games are all vitally important as they are a good opportunity to get in to a play off spot, and lay down the foundations for the last few months of the season.

Theoretically, should we do well in the next 4 games, we could be looking at only being 6 points behind the automatic places, in a great run of form, and starting to apply a bit of pressure on the sides in and around the top spots.

What is critical for me now, is that Nigel Adkins has fashioned a side out of all the mish mash of a first team squad he inherited and seems to know what his best side is, and is starting to get the best out of what he has got. I think he should be looking at keeping this side in place and rotating and resting as little as possible, as now he has a settled first XI, the players in that side are beginning to play with the freedom of confidence.

It may be a bit early to talk about automatic promotion as there is still a long way to go, and there will be blips, but it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we can have a strong end to the season, and go in to the play offs full of confidence and in great form, and for once we may be able to lay that particular fucking monkey to rest for good.

Posh fans I've spoken to down here are concerned about us. Not just this upcoming game, but our seemingly good form.

Posh have a pretty game, but against Walsall it had no end result. The same against Blackpool and Shrewsbury, so whilst they can play pretty possesion football, it doesn't always have an end result.

What we need on Saturday is not just our back four to be as solid as they were yesterday (JMac suprised me, pleasantely, with how assured he looked on the ball), but also our midfield to disrupt their flow.

Let's get Peterborough out of the way, and with a win, we will be up into the top 6. Onwards and upwards from there.

If Nadkins can get yesterday's second half out of his players for 60 minutes a game - it wont really matter which side we're up against (in this league anyway). That said, get a scrappy win against Peterborough and we are the form team in the division

We play at Blackpool on 26th January which is between the Swindon and Bury games

Looking at the original poster, I'm just amazed this isn't a thread about me.

You remind me of Carly Simon .
Your so vain I bet you thought this thread was about you .
Would take 5 . 1-0 victories, just a pity we let 2 points slip against the dingles.

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye
Your scarf it was apricot
You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner
They'd be your partner, and...

You're so vain, you probably think this thread is about you
You're so vain, I'll bet you think this thread is about you
Don't you? Don't You?

That is the rearranged fixture because of the Cup Game. I'd forgotten about that. Another very winnable game. If we keep this run of form up Janurary could be a very productive month indeed

Isn't there a separate attention-seeking nonentity section for that sort of thing?....
Yes there is. It is attention seeking, but that can only be on the part of whoever creates them. Brownie's amassed quite some experience in this, cast your eyes upon the Comments, Suggestions & Problems section for a nice visual representation.

Good pos,t but how many times have we looked at the fixtures and thought "we should win the next few." Then we've been played off the park and lost.

The transfer window is a big opportunity. Get those who aren't near the team either out on loan or sold and allow Adkins to bring in 2-3 big signings. A defender is still a priority to go alongside Edgar and I would still be tempted to bring in a keeper as harsh as that may be on Long.

Brownie lad stop it. I've written off this season for definite based on out form to December, no ifs no buts. Sort of looking forward to Adkins paring the squad and building for next season. And then you come along with all this positive stuff.
Don't you know it's the hope that kills you? Now you've got me looking at the league table instead of chilling out in front of the fire with a book as I'd planned. Thanks mate and a Happy New Year to you.

Last time I dared to look more than one game ahead was when we had Bury and Colchester coming up at home after a four game winning run and said “should get six points from those 2. We’ll likely be top if we do”. The rest is history. Let’s just carry on fighting and scrapping and playing a bit when we can and hope it see us beat Peterborough before we look any further ahead.

oh no, not optimism returning again, not sure I can cope with that just yet after the way this season started.

to use an old adage
lets take each game as it comes

we will lose some games , we will draw some games
we just need to win at least 13 for a play off spot
then aim for the 2nd spot

I think your form is benefitting from the dangling carrot of the upcoming Cup game because they're all suddenly putting shifts in and upping their game to make sure they get picked to play at OT..the acid test will be afterwards and whether they revert back to the displays like against Crewe or Shrewsbury or carry on the new found vigour.

I will be keeping my eye on you from 'afar' lol. :D

Spot on, it's a game by game strategy at the moment, fight the battles, the war will look after itself

If we can keep up the performance shown on Monday, and bring in 3 / 4 key players on 1st January ( not part way through February as usual ) THEN we could have a productive month and possible even be able to compete in the play-offs instead of getting shit on in the play-offs .......

Bury will be off, we'll have a 4th round FA cup game that weekend ;)

Yeesssssss !! That's what I like; some positivity .....

How about draw at Old Trafford and bring them back to BDTBL to beat them and get LVG sacked.

Then Newcastle away in the next round .......

We can then not spend the Cup revenue in the Summer .....

Indeed!

Then the week before/game before that the little voice grows into the backs of the mind.. 'mustn't get injured for it'!

So they'll all run about a lot like fairies but not put the usual oomphh into 50/50 challenges!
