In my opinion the next 3 games will tell us a lot i believe that if we take 6 points out of the next 3 games at least we will go and win the league.

These next 3 games all away from home will really tell us how far we have come as a team and whether we can really cope with the pressure this time around.

I am quietly confident about our chances but we can never underestimate any team as we have found out to our cost in previous seasons, Fleetwood Bolton and Scunthorpe are the only ones realistically that can catch us i think as the rest are too far behind I.M.O

UTB!

I think the next 11 games will make or break our chances.

What's sadly lacking on here and desperately needed are loads more threads entitled.
The next 2 games will make or break our season.
The next 4 games will make or break our season.
The next 6 games will make or break our season.
The next 7 games will make or break our season
The next 8 games will make or break our season
The next 9 games will make or break our season
The next 10 games will make or break our season
The next 11 games will make or break our season
The next 12 games will make or break our season.

We then need lots more threads entitled
Will we be promoted with 8 games left.
Will we be promoted with 7 games left
Will we be promoted with 6 games left
Will we be promoted with 5 games left
Will we be promoted with 4 games left
Will we be promoted with 3 games left
Will we be promoted with 2 games left
Will we be promoted with 1 game left

Then,in a week or two we need to start the whole thing over again because obviously we all have the attention spans of goldfish and forget we've done every fucking permutation in the fucking universe. Again and again and again and again.
FFS Wilder. Get the fuckers up so we can start interminable new topics on how many players will cut it in the Championship. Oh wait a minute.....

In my opinion, games 3, 7, 9 and 11 out of the remaining games, will tell us a lot. Odd though it may seem.

I agree with this. I mean, I'd love to ask Dronnie Blade, what is it that we are going to learn "in the next 3 games" that we don't know already? Please tell us? Because you are saying the next 3 games will tell us a lot. In my opinion they won't tell us a thing we don't know already, which is...

1 We are the best football team in this league
2 We are going to be promoted automatically

I think what Dronnie is saying is that he doesn't feel confident enough to state that we will be promoted yet - and wants a bit more time to get nearer to the winning post before he does so. Which is fair enough I suppose? But that's not my view at all.

I've been watching the Blades for almost half a century. I can tell you what a promotion side looks like. And this is a promotion side.

So, sit back and enjoy it. If you want to wait a bit longer before confidently asserting that we will win promotion, either because you're a "glass half-empty" type, or just simply superstitious, then fine. But let's not pretend that there is something we don't know about our team that we are suddenly going to learn in the next however many games.

We know all there is to know about them - and this is a bloody good Sheffield United team.

Thanks CB for just saving me about 5 minutes of typing, editing and re-typing just what I wanted to say :)

Personally I think the last 2 games has shown us how far we've come as a team.

Totally dominating 2nd and 3rd in the league and getting 3 points (should have been 6) tells us far more than playing 10th in the league.

Add to that the recent away performances at tough places like Posh, Rovers and Southend as well..........of course the job isn't done yet but does anyone really think that this squad doesn't have the quality, motivation, team spirit and belief to see it through?

Also the depth of the squad is the envy of most teams in the league when you look at the likes of Carruthers, O'Shea, Lavery and EEL who can't get a start.

A long as Moore, Wright, Fleck and Sharp stay fit and not suspended I am sure we will now win enough of the remaining games from here to win promotion.

I think we could only beat ourselves from this position, we have everything in our locker now to go on and win the league. Wilder and Captain Sharp will not allow the players to become complacent........

I concur

I guess it is because of everything that has happened in the past I well and truly had egg on my face last time thinking that we would piss it and saying so with ched little knowing what was to come.

I am hopeful I just don't want to count my chickens again.

Hang on a minute.......... the last two games were going to tell us what you want to know pal

If we can get 7 points then we'll only need another 4 wins from the next 9 for promotion IMO. I think 7 points is quite likely too.

Getting a bit jittery I guess because we deserve to go up as champions this year especially for our fan base and Chris Wilder giving us back our club

If we win any of our next three or four games, we will get three points for each win. If we only draw then we'll only get one point for each drawn game. If the other team score more than us by the end of the game, and we effectively lose that game, then we'll get no points for that game. On this basis, I agree. The next three or four games will tell us exactly how many points we'll be on after these games are completed.

Most said...

February would make us shiver
But every game we did deliver
No bad news on the doorstep
They couldn't have run one more step
I can remember how I cried
When Billy kissed his badge with pride
Something touched me deep inside
The day, negativity died
SOOOOO...

Don't bloomin start it up all over again! :(;):)

Sorry to have to correct you here but we will only deserve to go up as champions if after 46 games we have accrued more points,(or in the event of ending on equal points with one or more of our competitors, we have a superior goal difference).
Points for having a pukka fan base and a cushty manager are, unfortunately not factored in.

The last two games were what I needed to see. After the Fleetwood disaster, I wanted to see us mix it with one of the top teams, and delivered twice running as far as I'm concerned. There's no doubts now that our current standards are good enough. Almost every season we hit this stage and we're looking st the side and hoping for some miracle emergency loan, or some players to hit form, dreading a hit to a thin squad, repeating shit phrases like "if we can just go on a run". We aren't in that position this time. We have everyone we need, the players, the squad depth, the momentum. We know we can do it. It's time to sit back and find out if they will.
