There is obviously a general consensus on here that the signing of a new striker is an absolute priority.

Countless names have been mentioned , some clearly unattainable and others undesirable for a number of reasons , not least that of a shit record for scoring goals .

Amazingly for me , one name that seems to have been completely overlooked is that of Brett Pitman . This guy has been prolific throughout his career and last year was the second highest scorer in League 1 with 24 goals ( some of them absolute crackers) and a better strike rate than Marriott , who I believe is valued at around 7 million .

I'm pretty sure that Pitman could be secured for a fraction of that and would prove , just like Billy and Leon that given the right chances, natural goal scorers will put the ball in the net at any level .

I know the fact that he's 30 will have some on here having him ready for the knackers yard , but they're wrong and I'd love to see him turning out for us next year .

If the Waghorn deal falls through , he's definitely the next best option in my view .

Don't know him but Wilder is looking for proven Championship players right? Gap between League 1 and Championship is significant so don't think he's on our radar.

Is that the same gap that Billy and Leon jumped to become the Champioship's most prolific pairing ?

Not really done it at Championship level.

13/14 - 7 goals, 37 apps (Bournemouth - 10th)
14/15 - 14 goals, 39 apps (Bournemouth - champions)
15/16 - 11 goals, 46 apps (Ipswich - 7th)
16/17 - 4 goals, 23 apps (Ipswich - 16th)

The bits that jump out for me there is that he managed only 14 goals for AFCB when they scored 98 in 14/15.

Shouldn't this be a 'Player Suggestion' in the Rumour Mill. Although if you put it there.... you'll no doubt get destroyed by the usual 'experts' who must scout every single football league game, such is their innate, inside knowledge of every single footballer alive in England today

Only if we are short handed ;)

Got to agree with the concensus here, he's nothing special behind the 2 we have and the 2 we're looking at, maybe he's next on Wilder's list but I wouldn't bank on it.

Id rather help out our poor neighbours by taking Forestieri off their hands, so they can get more park the bus players to 0-0 their way to safety
