New MD for Club

Announced today that there is a new MD for the football club
Mal Brannigan
He used to be the VP of Finance at Derby County and it has been said was Clough's "negotiator" for transfers / contracts etc.

Makes you wonder what is now going to happen with John Stephenson?

I, for one, am happy that Clough appears to be getting more of a controlling influence and seems to be getting the autonomy to run things as he wants them to be run - can only be a good thing from my perspective.

Others who know the inner workings of the club better than me might correct me, but I didn't think John Stephenson was the negotiator or played a commercial role. I thought his role was more of a "football" role.

My understanding was that he oversees the academy, U21, recruitment, scouting etc on a purely football basis.

Hopefully this appointment is for the longer term than the chopping and changing in the board room over the past four years.

The other day it was announced that the new management structure was three-pronged: MD, FD, and NC.

Even under that structure NC had plenty of control. With his own man as MD our Nigel is "Mr. Football SUFC".
A few weeks ago I wondered how we had attracted NC to Bramall Lane but now it is clear, to me anyway. NC runs the club hereon in. No doubt he and his men are getting salaries to match.

Is he good enough, is he big enough? Time will tell, but I think it is high time we backed a winner and something tells me this bloke is a winner.
