With Wilder being sacked in the next few days I thought we weren't going to bother appointing a new one. So thanks for starting a thread which clears that confusion up.

Phew, what a relief!

Calm down everyone, Wilder will be replaced after he's gone.

Apologies for the sarcasm but was this thread really necessary?

Seems to be the fav with people I’ve asked. Just looking at his record and not sure why the board think this is a good idea. Well we will have to get behind him and just pray he’s the right man.
Results don't always show the bigger picture and tell the whole story. It's why Rohl is rated outside of S2 by a lot of neutrals and pundits.

If it is him it’s a big gamble for sure . Likewise , i am not convinced by his record.

Just hope whoever it is , it’s announced very soon . Big summer coming up .

It offers me some comfort that Wayne Rooney is behind Alan Knill in the betting.

Where’s that from? I can’t find a single bookies giving odds?

As I’ve put on wilder post ,…

If I was a gambling man, perish the thought, Selles has a masters degree in Sports and Physiology and has previously been hired as data analyst. That sounds an attractive combination for our owners.

Especially if look at win %

Wilders record in second term is
7834133143.59%
Selles record with Reading was.
7834182643.59%

Or is it Bob Bradley? We better get used to new Americanisms. Like scoring a scoop de loop or defensive evasion techniques😀

And it's fair to say that for the majority of those games, Wilder was managing a team with huge financial advantages compared to most, whereas Selles certainly wasn't.

one potential positive is that (bar wide forward / wingers) the squad is a lot more adaptable than the squad we had previously

We could only play 5-3-2 which is why Slav was an abject disaster. Hopefully the currently squad / which some additions is a lot more adaptable than the last ‘new’ manager inherited.

We players 4 at the back, 4 and 3 in midfield and 1/2 upfront at times. It would be nice to see some quality attacking football

  • Nick Montgomery 20/1

If it is Selles, I think this indicates we're changing structure, which wouldn't be a surprise. I'd be happy with Selles as a Technical Director or Head of Football, with a Head Coach. On his own, I'd be a bit underwhelmed. He's not proven himself to be capable of achieving promotion and I think we'd be in the realms of a longer term project.

Tell me in which of his previous jobs winning promotion was a realistic target?

It wasn't, still doesn't give him experience of success though
