Back in 1981 I witnessed the Blades get soundly beaten by non-league Altrincham. certainly thought that was the most humiliating defeat I'd ever witness.

Well today Barnet proved me wrong

NB Altrincham were the top non-league side then

And we were a Fourth Division side then.

This is our most humiliating defeat ever no question.

:eek::eek::eek:

It’s a low alright, no disguising that. But equally it’s a sad reflection on attitudes to the FA Cup.

A reserve team and two debuts. They played like strangers, and as much as Wilder will say otherwise, the team selection tells people and players what a low priority it was.

But congratulations to Barnet - they won with comfort.

Get a grip ! Worst defeat ever ?? The team lacked game time and it showed against opponents who obviously raised their game !! Not the greatest day but hardly the end of the world!
These things happen !
As ever UTB !!
Ps I feel fucking way worse when we lose 0-0 to the pigs and way way way worse when we actually lose to them !!

I’d love to be really bothered by this but instead I’m grieving the FA Cup.

The reality is it doesn’t matter and we’ll still be 3rd in the league next week and Wilder can get on with what he’s actually paid for.

Agreed. We were beaten by the better (non league) team. We, along with many other clubs, have lost respect for the FA Cup. Our best team could have been competitive. But no, we're not that interested.

I still love the FA Cup and I'm gutted when we go out

We will never win the League ever again, the only chance of ever seeing us win anything is a cup

If we're in the Premier League we'll toss it off because the main aim will be to stay there

If we're a Championship club we toss it off because the aim is to get promoted

Its pathetic, and there is no evidence that a cup run affects our League form, quite the opposite actually

When you pick a reserve team you deserve all you get.

Humiliating? Not really.
The reserves humiliating of are getting paid thousands of pounds a week to play football.

The Barnet lads will be on hundreds, it should be humiliating.

Adkins had a Lg1 squad, and only got beat by other Lg1 squads. This is worse.

True, but the fact we had the squad we did, losing league games against the teams we did, hurt me more than our reserves going out the FA Cup when we’re in a Championship promotion race.

It comes down to who wants it more, not money. Those players earning thousands per week have all played a decent part and earned their money in the games they’ve played before today.

Making 10/ 11 changes was always going to have one result
