Sheffield United will unveil next season’s new first team kit during tomorrow’s League One fixture against Port Vale, writes James Shield.
The move forms part of an initiative designed to bring the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations to a close and commemorate the memory of supporter David ‘Shred’ Spencer who passed away recently.
“Saturday promises to be an exciting day with the launch of the new home strip plus one or two other surprises and the events to mark the end of the club’s 125th,” Dave McCarthy, United’s operations director, said last night.
The adidas designed jerseys Nigel Clough’s players are set to wear will be embroidered with the date of the game, name of the opposition and British Heart Foundation logo before being auctioned. All proceeds, officials yesterday confirmed, will be donated to the charity.
United have also announced that Bramall Lane will host a ‘Fans’ Zone’ before the meeting with Vale.
The event, which starts at 11.45am, takes place in the stadium’s Cherry Street car park and includes appearances from the likes of Dane Whitehouse and Kell Brook, live music and food stalls. The first 125 people through the gate will receive a voucher entitling them to a free drink while opportunities to win pairs of season tickets begin at noon.
Details of how to bid for the Vale match shirts will be released by www.sufc.co.uk on Thursday while the new adidas apparel can be pre-ordered online from 3pm tomorrow.

what will we talk about in the summer now!![]()
We are using the kit Sunderland had last season this season..
If trends continue, and we get this seasons Sunderland shirt next year, this is the template we will get...
![]()
Hopefully its not the case
Apart from it having Red and White Stripes, it is totally different.

None of the Sunderland kits made by Adidas use the same template as ours this season...

So his argument is flawed. Red and White stripes are the only comparison.. Suppose the shorts are similar.

interesting the fan zone tomorrow giving away free drinks and 2 fee season tickets every hour
Don't think John Holland will even be the sponsors on the new kits
Never knew shred but with all the posts I have read I have had a fantastic insight into a true blades fan, SUFC and fans have shown that standing together makes us stronger. Let's hope a large amount of money is raised for the BHF.This is the most exciting news we've had in ages. Without doubt, it'll be the best selling kit in league 1, you mark my words.
Yep, Ched is now a logo designer. John Holland loves the new logo apparently, thank you he said to the designer in a recent interview, the interviewer was a certain Mrs/Miss/Ms/Mr/Master Hatchett. If we had signed ched (not only would automatic still be achievable) we might have some better looking sponsors too.
Although I've seen john Holland's logo has changed a bit and looks much better
