Apparently the deal between Randers and United has legs, with their keeper Patrik Carlgren being seriously looked at.

Positive is seeing the back of Fodders and Grbic.

Negative is that it’s a Swedish keeper.

Seeing Antony Patterson's name doing the rounds on twitter, getting linked with Liverpool as well though as a replacement for Kelleher

Maybe as a back up considering wes and Davies are going. Would mean Grbic is gone and not just back up but I doubt we can sell him!

A bit left field this one

It would make much more sense to go for VJ as we all know his form and ability and he lives in the area, so I’m assuming he’s already committed to going elsewhere?

Do we all know his form and ability? I keep seeing that suggested on here and most just seem to take it as a given.

His weakness at stopping shots at his front post has certainly been noted by at least one other club who had him watched recently.

If only there was a Swedish keeper nearby we could compare him to… 🤔

On bbc gossip 8m bid for Patterson.

If we have 8 million I wouldn’t spend that on a gk

Fair enough but I think most keepers have a weakness. Even the very best that cost the most, but I’m looking at it from a cost point of view.

£8m or £1m? (reported)

We aren’t exactly in a position to be splashing the cash

i think you could be right 58 i would have gone for johannsen certainly at the price but if were not it looks like chris thinks we can do better and patterson is a top championship keeper could see us bidding say 5m for him rising to 8m depending on other things

Maybe Chris has thought that the Millers keeper has gone down despite how good he is due to millers defence

Then realised he could be playing Bogle/Trusty and Robbo next season plus Aylijg and then panicked a bit lol

That’s just joking from me of course, maybe we just rate this lad better

If we are spending £8m on a relative unknown young keeper as it stands now, then why the fuck didn't we sign Henderson when we had the chance and had secured a 2nd season in the PL?
Fucking madness.

Shouldn't underestimate how much emphasis CW puts on having a good keeper, it was always one position he tried to improve on every season when needed. Moore>Blackman>Hendo>Ramsdale - he's always happy to spend the money on them (ok, two were loans but quite expensive ones). Wouldn't be at all surprised if the rumours about the Sunderland keeper have some weight to them.

While £1m vs £8m seems a no brainer its unlikely to be that straightforward.

Also if this season has taught us anything it’s that it’s worth investing money in a decent keeper.

£8m seems a lot given what we are likely to have to spend but that aside it’s worth having our own keeper with 100 odd games under his belt that we can build with for a couple of years and sell on for a decent profit…..rather than making do with loans, freebies or complete frauds like Grbic.

If we are serious about “rebuilding” this is a good place to start.

I'd be amazed if we commit £8m for a keeper. If we are linked with other keepers, its either Johansson has already agreed somewhere else or we are trying to make it look like we have other viable options (not like us tbh). Someone like Sam Tickle fits the Wilder type, just picked up player of the year at Wigan, 22 years old, capped by England U21 last year. Can't image he'd be expensive.

I noticed Jamal Blackman is on a free. He'd be a half decent number 2, relatively cheap and never really let us down during his loan spell.

Us being linked with keepers other than VJ doesn't mean that we're not in for him - we need multiple keepers.
If the current contract status is to be believed, we will only have Grbic as a registered senior keeper beyond this season.
Even if we keep Grbic (which I highly doubt!) we'd have 2 x goalies including VJ, and we need 3, surely?

I expect us to sell Grbic to the highest bidder to recoup what we can, sign Victor and one decent League One keeper to compete with him, plus an older steady pair of hands who's happy to be third choice.
