Playing at Highbury next season , the one near the isle of man , in fleetwood
Marvelous rise of Fleetwood town is some story
won 6 promotions in 9 years
2005 promoted from north west counties
2006 promoted northern 1 to northern prem
2007 northern prem to conference north
then 2009 conference north to football conference
then 3 years ago conference to league 2
and today to league one, 6 divisions higher in a decade , a real feat
they were on a par with Glossop north end chorley and Squire gate a decade ago

Indeedy, they'll be bang up for it next season playing and visiting ex Premier clubs in this division - Coventry, Dingles, Bradford & us and some fair old stadiums too.
Hat's off to em, they've done great.

Andy Pilley has personally put £10M into the club in that time and this has also opened up some other funding on top of this. These are huge amounts for a club starting up so far down the pyramid. Despite this they've made a lot of good decisions and deserve the success, they could have pissed the money but it certainly seems a well run club.

Not a dig at you Paulus, but a general point, I don't really see why it is seen by plenty of fans as good when a crap little club like Fleetwood or Bournemouth get a wealthy owner to buy them success, but when Man City, a club that managed 30k gates or thereabouts in the wanky league we're in now, do the same, it's killing the game? How could other non-league clubs hope to compete with Fleetwood's level of investment?

A very good point well made. If my local team, Stocksbridge Park Steels, made it to league one, they would be lauded for their achievements. Man City on the other hand, are castigated.

No offence taken, re-reading my post I don't think I made my point very clearly. I was trying to say in response to the comments further upthread that that they had risen up the leagues on the back of the type of financial backing most clubs at their level could only dream of.... it is buying success just as surely as Chelsea have done.

we arent talking oil money , hes put in 10 million over a decade or a million a year, yes its more than some but blackburn and bolton had massive financial advantages over burnley , but burnley were better run

Gutted !

It's bad enough having Blackpool ahead of us for a few years but the Cods !!! Hard to believe they've made up 10 divisions on us since our Prem days. Great achievement for them but before people say what a great bloke Blackpool fan Andy Pilley is, maybe you should do a quick google and see how he's made his fortunes.

Fortunately, I can't see them surviving, they can't compete on crowds of 2500 however much money AP pumps in and of course there are limits to what he can put in.

See you all next season, I'll produce my 'Guide to Fleetwood' as and when :)

How long does it take on the tram from blackpool?

Gas and Electricity Supplier?
Before I googled I expected to read that he was some sort of porn baron, maybe a drug cartel overlord or white-slave trader.

Chris Lucketti is Fleetwood's Assistant Manager. Remember him? Fleetwood is also coincidentally about 48.5 miles, as the crow flies, from St Asaph in Denbighshire, which is the birthplace of another ex-United player, Ched Evans. How weird is that?

...or 4 in a cab. Basically it's a night out in Blackpool.

Fleetwood will no doubt,no matter how far it is, be one of our many away sellouts next season. Can't wait, aslong as they don't put it on a fooking tuesday night like they normally do with preston or blackpool when we play them.

got a job in fleetwood last week , about 100 yards from the ground, its near the ferry for the Isle of Man , the ground is tiny , but looks tidy,

To be fair Sothall, that makes him a bigger t**t, then all the others put together

I'm praying we get Fleetwood in the middle of November, which will coincide with my birthday, which will turn in to an epic weekend away

They generally have around 1000 away fans, or should I say that's how many would probably be available to us. Given my paltry 10,000 loyalty points it'll be worse than getting a ticket for Wembley ;)

93 miles to BDTBL, I've done the trip once or twice :)

I'm so optimistic about next season, by mid November I'll be expecting that to be our Promotion Party Game.

(OK Darren I know it's mathmatically impossible - I'm just joking! )

I've been to Highbury, folks, and it's a bloody dump. One side of the ground is posh, the rest of it crap, which is a metaphor for the club itself, really. And Andy Pilley is a very dodgy character who has been exposed twice in the media for employing supposedly independent brokers who cold-call potential customers and badger them into using BES, which then charges more than these poor buggers were paying previously as well as tying them into long term contracts.

Result: misery, penury and likely the end of the road for the small business involved; more dosh for Pilley and for Fleetwood Town.

Compared with Morecambe and Burton, decent and respectable non-league clubs who battled their way into the League in the traditional way, Fleetwood Town are the local spivs throwing their cash around and taking other teams' best players away with their filthy lucre. I cannot effing stand them.
