One rumour is...

Dalglish is set to be installed as Director of Football to help out Robson.

Pearson also to join coaching team.

If Dalglish comes I've done. He's another muppet with a history of destroying clubs. He's left every club he's been at in a mess.

Daglish was a name first being mentioned in the summer while the Pearson in as coach has definitely being doing the rounds.

What good will more staff make though?

If this is true, it looks like they are employing more staff to try and cover the cracks (well cracks might not be the right word)

If it doesn't work out, its more people to pay off.

That's a bit harsh. He did ok at Liverpool and Blackburn. Not that I think it would be a good idea for him to come.

What exactly does a Director of Football actually do? Except put the wage bill up?

The director of football is answerable to the board but there to assist the manager. He's experienced in football and there to help the board members who don't have that experience.

A bit like a buffer between the two.

The manager is generally left to look after the players, teamwork, tactics, fitness, picking the team etc... but also with advise (but not demands) from the DOF.

Director of football is usually responsible for the budgets and making sure they are adhered to. Both at a first team and youth/academy level.

Don't see how that would help the situation in the slightest! It's like having a knackered broom head and replacing the handle.

I can see the logic behind it, but i'd rather have a complete clearout on the management side tbh.

If we're bringing in extra people to help Robson and fill the gaps he can't fill then surely we should be funding their salary from Robson's. He's being paid to manage...if he's not doing it properly then don't pay him a manager's wage.
I can't actually remember a director of football having a positive effect on a team/club although I'm sure there must have been some? Seem to be a lot more complete failures from what I can remember.

Sit in the Director's box looking like someone's just stuck a pineapple up their arse.

Whether it's pure speculation or not is debatable, but there are rumours that McLaren will be manager, with Speed as his assistant and Pearson as first team coach.

Me too. I think a sea-change in the management side of things is necessary to turn round the fortunes of the club.
