The big question is, who will be sober enough to remember the fucker by the time we kick off ?

And we think that will make him want to keep turning out in front of our fans singing that?

I’d be excited about a connection to Coronation Street except it’s so long since I last saw it I believe Ena Sharples was given detention for wagging school in the episode..

Since the lad signed from Liverpool it got me thinking. Untrendy as it is - I've become interested in old British / Irish / American songs and leading eventually to the old sea shanties! It's not cool I know.

Anyway to cut a long story short - the Liverpool lad reminded me of a great tune sung by Loius Killen - so I've quickly changed the lyrics. It's a poor suggestion - I'm not good at lyrics etc. But the album is fine and its worth listening to some traditional tunes - it gives you a feel of the hard life and cruel times back then.

Don't take me down in flames though it's a light-hearted suggestion on a quiet night!

Here's the original:

Here's Louis Killen (later Louisa Jo Killen)

Here's a brief outline of the song:

This is my version:

Oh! In Sheffield I was born
and Bramall Lane's me home from home

and Wilder's boys I do admire
they sets the desso all afire

Down the roads from coast to coast
Wilders boys will bring it home

Across the land through wind and snow
We're Shoreham boys away we go

Bring it home!

I'm Sheffield born and bred
Thick in the arms
and thick in the head

So rock and roll me over boys
Get the damn job over boys!

Bring it home!

Ah, the best way to a new signings heart, sing about shagging his girlfriend.

I don't think I'll partake.

Besides, I'm on team Rosie Webster
For me, Carla Conner every time on Coronation Street. Oohhhh, I’d like to kiss her. By the way I’ve heard that Ken Barlow is leaving Corrie to pursue new roles. Apparantly he’s worried about becoming typecast.

To the tune of Hey Jude, Woodburn
Very original I know, but has the link to Liverpool

You've got competition for Carla but if you should win I'll take Tracey Barlow as a consolation prize ;)
