Never seen a game like it.....never will again

Cast your mind back to when O'Driscoll took over at Donny, they showed signs of improvement, were knocking it around but it took them until Xmas before they started winning games. Have faith :)

I keep trying to look longer term and all that but the phrases Beaten, Scunthorpe, home, 4-0 and Scunthorpe keep reverbing around my head. Humiliated at home by that lot, I can't see how people can take any positives.

I agree, guesty, I couldn't take any positives last night. That was after an all day drinking session when alcohol usually dulls the senses. This morning, in the cold sober light of day, it feels even worse. Whilst it seems that United are trying to play the right way, if we defend like that, we will be in a relegation scrap come the business end of the season.

Look, I know we hit the post twice, had a goal ruled out that was debateable and had a couple cleared off the line etc, but what's the point of scoring three if you're going to let in 4?

We have kept 2 clean sheets before this. I wouldn't mind if we were letting 4 goals in everytime but let's not over react here. The defence missed it's leader last night and he will be back in for Saturday.

Fair enough sheffielder, but let's not forget the 3 also conceded at home v QPR. All I am saying is that it seems that whilst we might be able to play well and win well such as againsy Derby, we are also capable of letting in 7 goals in three home games. Again, IF this were to continue, our 18th place in September might soon become 20th in April, and no - one wants that scenario.

The same leader who was missing for both the clean sheets !

Both Bartley and Nos are decent enough but we know Nos is accident prone and Bartley is still inexperienced so whilst they may keep clean sheets, the pairing is also an accident waiting to happen as it did last night. I don't think we particularly missed Morgs the player last night but we certainly missed his presence when it all started to go pear-shaped. It will be interesting to see what Speed does on Saturday.

if you build it they will come!

the performance is there but the result isnt YET, speed must have learnt a lot last night from his side and where he needs to strengthen! just as my mate dave on wireless said after the match we still miss a goalscoring midfielder!

Ridiculous game that ended with a frankly ridiculous scoreline.

I've never seen us dominate a team so much in the 1st half for ages. QUOTE]

This reminded me of a game under Dave Bassett when we had 27 or 28 corners in the second half and still lost 0-1. Anybody remember which game?

it was west ham and we lost 2-0 both goals coming from mark ward

I second that. He also scored twice in another 2-0 win against us - for Man City if memory serves. I wonder if he was one of those who you liked if he was on your side. He was one of the first opposing players to wind me up.

I seem to recall that we were briefly linked with him at one point, and I think he would have fitted perfectly into a Bassett team. Definitely one we all hated, but I think we would have loved him if he played for us. Still a horrible little bastard though.

Mark Ward was such a nice chap he ended up in clink.

Now he's got a book out - "From Right Wing to B-Wing". See what he did there?
