Now I thought it was just a good free kick but......

Hughes revealed the Rovers staff have honed Pedersen’s skills with neuro-linguistic programming and said Beckham, Tiger Woods and Jonny Wilkinson all use the same technique.

What is it?..............

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a set of techniques, axioms and beliefs that adherents use primarily as an approach to personal development. It is based on the idea that mind, body and language interact to create an individual's perception of the world and that perceptions, and hence behaviors, can be changed by the application of a variety of techniques; in particular, "modeling" which involves the careful reproduction of the behaviors and beliefs of those who have achieved 'excellence'. The early focus of NLP was the study of the underlying patterns in the language and techniques of noted and successful therapists in hypnotherapy, gestalt therapy and family therapy. The patterns discovered were adapted for general communication and effecting change.

Yeah, I thought as much

mmm, once did a course in it, all I can remember is that i have a red personality, wow, as if I didnt already know that one.

Its a bit more useful than knowing you're 'red' (Of course!! you're a Blade!?) personality... I have a bit of knowledge around & including NLP. Lawyers & many others apart from hypnotherapists, use patterns of language - so does your average con-man! Derren Brown is superb using some of these techniques/insights, it's wrong in my view to just label it 'NLP' though... Big areas of possibility, beyond the actual words of 'N.L.P...' Modelling is just one aspect.

Sounds all like alot of bollocks to me.

It sounds like a load of fish cocks to me.
Someone is having a right laugh, it's like all that feng-shui shite.
"If you move your wardrobe to an eastern aspect, you will score a right goal.":D :D :D

We use NLP at work... never thought I'd here about it at work!!!

Did he take the free kick from his personal zone? His public zone? Or maybe his intimate zone?!?!

What if it wasn't a load of fish c0ck5 though Shoreham? Mental rehearsal, & using certain imagery & physical 'triggers'... You could just say it's just "practice makes perfect.." Maybe a case of knowing exactly what to practice though... ?

Practice doesnt make perfect

Practice makes permanent

You practice it wrong alot of the time you will perform it wrong alot of the time

Quite right Tino, I just said you might use the phrase, for Shoreham... Practising with physical & mental exercises to re-create the 'perfect' action is what the original thread comments were about though.. I know they have used some different exercises at Old Trafford to increase awareness of peripheral vision too. They do seem pretty good at finding their team-mates with the ball, eh?

I share some of Shoreham's scepticism about how NLP gets talked about like its the new religion... but that's to miss the point that some parts of what it's about, really are useful. It seems to work for Johnny Wilkinson's kicks, don't you think? I wonder if NW has anyone doing any of this with Blades in training...
