Apparently Leeds want to re-sign him according to a close friend who works within the club. Their manager Grayson rated him and never wanted to sell him but he was overruled by their board because of the money we were offering and their defensive record.

Anyway, they're not prepared to reimburse the money we paid for him so it's unlikely to happen. I'd imagine they'll have other targets but hopefully a loan could be sorted further down their line but that's just wishful thinking on my part. Swap for Painter who worked with Wilson at Swindon?

Who cares if we don't get the money back for him, ship the useless chump out!

All the Leeds fans were pissing themselves when they mugged us with Collins.

I don't believe for one minute Grayson wants him back

If Grayson rated him so highly, why wasn't he a regular in the Leeds team at the time he sold him to us?

My understanding was he was surplus because others were in front of him

Bad news I'm afraid! We're stuck with him! :(

The 3 amigos: Bent, Collins and Doyle! You got to hand it to Adams, as much as I like the fella, those 3 take some beating :D

So, but this just seems too good to be true. It has to be a mirage. Like walking through the Sahara and suddenly seeing an oasis. This would be the best news of the summer.

Absolutely. Let him go on a free, loan him or whatever. Fucking hell, we'll all chip in (I think I can speak for all Blades fans) and pay!?

Unfortunately it is ale house Micky's legacy. He shipped out Ward and Britton (two footballers) and dished out 2/3 year contracts to Collins and Doyle. Unfortunately (and I wish this new was true) IO think we are stuck with him. I just hope that Wilson is savvy enough to keep him well away from the first team!

To my knowledge, Micky didn't ship them out, both wanted to go. But here you go, answer me this... how many games did either actually gain praise for whilst at United? Games where you could actually say, "wow! Ward had a good game today"
Britton - 24 appearances - give me 3 stand out performances - Yeah he made some short passes, but was mostly ineffective in our team.

Ward - 63 appearances - give me 5 stand out performances (I can think of just Wednesday at home) But remember he was decent in some others, but mostly poor

Doyle - Perhaps like for like with Britton and is a worker rather than a cultured footballer, something we needed as Britton wasn't able to do his job without a full change. I think you said yourself he'll do ok at this level and then perhaps at a level above, but we don't need to worry about that until at least 2 seasons
16 games for us - Can only think of Leeds (i think) when he had a decent 2nd half, but was awful first

Collins - We needed a centre half.... God knows why he thought Collins would ever be this man!
14 games - everyone a shocker

Geez. You have no faith in Wilson, yet you defend hoofy Adams still. Yep Swiss, the 'we  hoof' brigade would certainly say that Britton and Ward had to go. Admittedly Britton struggled in a team full of cloggers and hoofers. Ward struggled with injury, but was electric at times. He was very dangerous. The idea of stand out games is down to perception, but I would say that it would be more in the 20's rather than 5.

The point is that a decent managers gets the best out of their players. Alienating and/or selling the few players that actually have talent is not a good idea. Last year, in a team full of cloggers, hoof merchants and deadwood Adams sold or let go any players that had footballing ability and fell out with the players who could actually make something happen.

You can come back if you want, but just go to the 'Worst manager in the History of SUFC thread' before you come out defending ale house Micky.

And ward seemed to have a cracking end to the season at Derby, so i would say that if we didn't get the best out of him, it was probably a management failure more than anything. Ditto britton.

Ollie, you might want to point out where I defended Micky on this thread, just highlighted your spurious claims and how they weren't based on fact really were they? I was actually saying how each of the players performed last season under several managers. No mention of Micky v Wilson or different styles of play.

You might have also noticed that I didn't give a preference for a certain style of play. But somehow you think that because I think Wilson is completely toss, I am somehow against your real ale and proper football campaign. This isn't the reason why I don't like your RAPFA bollocks, its just because its a load of bollocks and you're happily trying to put people into groups, which is kind of daft when/if it all goes wrong under Wilson :)

Again, I'll ask because you didn't answer, name the standout performances that Ward and Britton put in for us, I asked for 5 and 3, but you've commited to 20, so name them... Excuses that they were playing alongside cloggers doesn't wash, tell me why we had to keep them when they we're offering very little at the time.

I firmly believe that Micky was hung out to dry and in hindsight should've seen that he would be the fall guy, but I've said my piece on Micky, good luck to him at Vale. Did he really have a big say in the players like Britton, Bartley and Ward leaving when they all expressed a desire to leave (at least thats what we've been told publicly)

Wilson will go, of that I have no doubt, but if he gets rid of Collins then fair play to him,l but please don't try and bring me down to your level or twist what I am saying just so that you can use that very, very shite we love hoof thing. Its just shite.

I must have missed something we paid english money for Neil Collins????? Definitely wasn't monopoly money???

There you go again defending your beloved Adams. A joke of a pub manager who's record says it all. Ale house hoof merchant.

And you drank Carlin when we met for a beer last year. Defending Hoofy Adams whilst drinking fizzy lager makes you the enemy of RAPFA!? ;)

Very true Ollie, I don't go for all this real ale or nothing bollocks Golden Showers does a decent pint of Carling.

Struggling to name the 20 games eh Ollie, so trying to cover your tracks by twisting my words.

Come on smart arse name the 20 stand out games... :)
