Another thread to criticise Warnock then?
We must be the only club that takes such delight in slagging off everyone from the past associated with us.
McCabe, Bassett, Bruce, Warnock, Robson, Blackwell, Adams, Wilson, Weir, Clough, Adkins...
There was even a thread on here calling TC a cunt once.
Give it a few years and Wilder & Knill will be a reyt pair of twats.
I can't remember ever slagging off Bassett or seeing a thread or even a post slagging him off. I remember someone not liking that he called us Sheffield instead of Sheff United but not slagging off his time with us. All the others I can understand for one reason or another;
McCabe did keep the purse strings tighter than he should have at various times and has made a cock out of himself since leaving the club.
Bruce did one, to a better situation leaving us in the shit and has consistently done it since.
Robson spent big money in the championship and completely messed it up his drinking could have been forgiven if he was half competent
Blackwell just removed the heart out of the club
Adams This was a shame as he had done great things elsewhere just didn't have the players and it just didn't work, good bloke though.
Wilson He was a Wednesday man FFS what do you expect? However he did an alright job but just wasn't good enough
Wier What on earth are we to say that's positive??????????
Clough I can't remember anything specifically bad at the time he was manager and he was not sacked for footballing reasons. No reason was ever public. He lost Maguire so couldn't repeat his first season getting to the Semi of the FA cup and close to the Playoffs. The only thing I can think of is he was defensive but can't think of any other negativity towards him,
Adkins Just oh dear.
I doubt Chris Wilder or Alan Knill will be thought of in any negative way. Even if their departure is controversial. They have given us the best of times and in the same way Bassett did (tactics aside). I think we will be wanting selfies with both of them long after they have left the club. Hopefully it won't come to that.
Warnock though is a different kettle of fish. He is a very good championship manager and can even put a decent squad together the triple assault squad and matches were some of the best I have ever seen. His big problems are his ego (trying to say Chris Wilder is like himself in the interview, he wishes!) and the fact that he builds team spirit by alienating everyone else so us v the world mentality. Chris Wilder builds relationships with everyone, all the squad players speak highly of him, Besic being the latest. Warnock kind of spoilt his rapport with the Blades by saying that every other set of fans were better than us wherever he went (only to build his us v them mentality) but there was no need for it.
So by alienating people including refs and therefore the authorities we were up against it in the prem before we kicked a ball. He nearly did it but refs decisions (surprise surprise) against West ham away and Liverpool at home meant we were relegated. Tactically he is not in the same league as any premier league manager he is a championship manager hence he can't keep a team in the prem.
I think we can therefore say what we think about anyone that was at the club in a big position it is a forum about the club and there's nothing wrong with you coming on and defending Wier, good luck.
