In Blades colours of course. I thought it was about time I got an avatar. That's the one I want. :)
TIA.

Mick was my hero. Got a good slappin' from mi Dad when I chalked his name on the wall at Hyde Park flats. Was devastated when he went to Leeds.

Devastated is the word, this was the first time (but sadly not the last) I felt betrayed and hurt by the club.

And the great sage John Harris called it exactly right:

He joined Leeds United in September 1967 for £100,000, prompting the Sheffield United manager, John Harris to remark "it would be the biggest mistake the club had ever made".

Gerrit on, then. :)
I've tried but keep getting this error.

Aye Mick was my hero. I used to have his autograph and Alan Birchenall's. They did them for me when I was really ill in the mid 60's. My mum asked for them, god knows where they disappeared to. Wasn't Alan known as Sherman? As per the tank?

1963/4
WHAT IS NOW THE JESSICA ENNIS WAS OPENED IN 66

I think the photo would have been taken in early September 1964 just before Woody made his debut for us at Anfield and was a regular for the 1st team for the rest of the season. Alan Birchenall had just broken into the 1st team (his 2nd game was in the 2-0 win at Wendy and he scored both goals). During the 1963/64 season Ronnie Simpson, Doc Pace and Len Allchurch were regulars and none of them are in the photo. Allchurch and Simpson were dropped from the team and Doc Pace was suffering from a stomach illness. when he recovered it wasnt long before he moved to Notts County

There was a few Shaws at the lane at that time Joe and Graham in the pic and not so long after we got Bernard in the team, then we had Tony and Barrie Wagstaff.

Thanks for that, Tojo. It was meant to have that overcoloured, 60s, magazine-stylee look but I'm sure your skills would be better...

Mad Mick, I think it has to be saved in .jpg or .gif format.

That shed is where I used to stand as a nipper. What year would that be?

Very vaguely remember that shed on the Bramall Lane end. I think it was around Boxing Day in '64 or '65 and we played (again, I think) Leicester. The shed had all but been demolished and rubble and timbers were still on that terrace. Nevertheless (Health & Saftey, look away now) the few Leicester fans stood among the debris decided to keep warm by making a bonfire out of the timbers...

I'm trying to work out exactly when i first started going to the Lane. Trouble is I went to County Cup matches and reserve games before being allowed to the real thing. I remember the shed at the Bramall Lane end being full which suggests a league match. Anyone know exactly when was it demolished??

I remember seeing Hartle and Kettleborough and Ces Coldwell, Brian Richardson and Joe Shaw and Allchurch but can't remember if it was for the reserves.

Also when were banners banned? Fans used to take in to the kop banners on poles saying stuff like
The Blades - Harris' Untouchables or just Up the Blades etc.

And finally whilst I'm in nostalgaville. Anyone remember the song

When your'e Strolling just strolling, by the light of the silvry moon
I dont envy the rich in their automobiles
A motor car is phony, Id rather shag a pony (honestly thats how it went)

Ha ha ha. I've mentioned that game in a thread previously and no one answered so I thought I must have made it up !

Not that it matters, but I always thought it was a 3rd round cup game against Fulham when they started a fire on the Bramall Lane end. Christ almighty we didn't bother with many rules 50 years ago.

Happy days

Ah yes. Lengths of four bi two with a painted bedsheet nailed to them (and later with razor blades embedded in the poles...)

Also the 'greebos' (sp?) who carried them wearing khaki WW2 jackets from Wakefields on the Moor.

Yeh about a year later we made one and graduated to the Kop. Mind you you could walk all the way around in those days. I also remember getting a Miners Helmet from Millets. Painted it red white and gold. They were all the rage for around a season. Then walking sticks became and new must have accessory along with Big T boots.
Not long after that we saw the first Doc Martens. Great days. :)
