hmmm.. not too sure on this one, I think we already have enough slow old players, especially in the middle of the park. However when I have seen him play I have thought he is better than doyle. Always seems to make a decent pass and starts off a lot of any attacks County have.

Never heard of him, which, when he's 31, cannot be a good thing!

Hopefully we'll be in a higher league next season (God I hope so at least) so somebody who a quick Google of suggests he's spent a relatively long career no higher than our current division doesn't seem like a sensible signing to me

When I read the title of this thread I assumed it was a badly spelt instruction, imagine my surprise when I found he's actually a footballer. Never heard of him, but i'd rather stick with our top scoring central midfielder, Doyle.

He's improved a hell of a lot in the last few seasons and is a very good player at this level.

Thing is, you're right that all we have to go on is this level. In short, if we go up, don't bother. If we stay down, snap up.

And no dig at Latters or Swiss, but being as we've played against the chap a handful of times in the last couple of seasons, and he did well against us at least once or twice, I'm troubled that you've never heard of him (although, he was in fact, he was sent off against us last season!)

I do often wonder if this is a big club attitude issue where you don't pay any attention to the oppo.

I'd much rather we went for his team mate Alan Judge if we manage to get up. If (heaven forbid) we do stay in this division though, I think he'd be good for us. That said, I'd much rather we went for younger players though

I wasn't intending us to stay down this long so haven't memorised that many players... except a couple who've stood out

Plays a role similar to Doyle, but is bigger and stronger physically. He wouldn't add much in terms of our attacking play and I agree we shouldn't be looking at him if we win promotion.

He's going to be the next Pope.

I'm the same as Swiss here. I very rarely pay attention to opposition players unless it's somebody I've heard of already or they really stand out as being good. This bloke must not have, to me at least. Pogba at Crewe is the only one who i can remember standing out for being good from this season. I've been to all home games but none away, although i feel confident when I say it really is an appalling level of football in terms of individual players.

I hope he stays at County to maintain the Bishop/Judge axis, always makes me think that County are some sort of Masonic sect.

HITC Sport understands that Scunthorpe United midfielder Neal Bishop is a target for several clubs during this summer's transfer window.

Bishop enjoyed a fantastic debut season at Scunthorpe last term and his performances at Glanford Park have not gone unnoticed by rival clubs.

The 33-year-old, who joined the Iron from Blackpool last summer, scooped three 'Player of the Season' awards at the club following his stellar performances for them.

Bishop is entering the final year of his contract at Scunthorpe and the midfielder's suitors are ready to test Scunthorpe's resolve to hang onto their captain.

Sheffield United are thought to be leading the chase for Bishop as Blades boss Nigel Adkins is keen to bring in the experienced midfielder.

Adkins is in the market for midfield reinforcements after letting Michael Doyle leave this summer and he sees Bishop's experience and leadership qualities as something that will enhance his options next season

Like clough all over again with ex-derby.... *tin hat on*

No tin hat needed, never played under Adkins. Likely to be recommended by the new scout so must have something about him. Can't recall any of his performances though.

Is he ex-Notts C? If so, he was good a couple of seasons ago. Not heard much of him since and at 33?!? Suppose he could be our Stuart McCall?

Edit: Just checked. 2 seasons ago was his first and only season as a Championship player.

Bossed some game or other against us with Notts County I think, and I can't remember whether he's either scored against us, or got sent off. We've been in this league too long.

Link pal?

Not sure how that helps tbh

Yeah I believe so, I trust in Nigel though I reckon he's just for those tough battling games of the interest is legit.

After all the negativity when linked with this guy last month, who would take him like a shot now?!

He would walk straight in to our first eleven in central midfield or defence and probably take the armband aswell to boot.

We need some experienced nasty bastards down the spine of the team!

Why would we? Nothing has changed.

He also played in a losing team this past weekend, and he's not a defender which is the area where we desperately need improvements.
