Cheeky bastard. Warnock was down to be in the Plymouth area that week and I'd asked him to turn out for our ship's (HMS Manchester) 1stXI. He was well up for it and when I told the dockies (who we were playing and for whom NW has great affinity because of his days at Plemmerf) they were overjoyed to meet their hero.

Then he rang me up to cancel say he was off to Birmingham to sign Nuddy. I think Curtis Woodhouse was part of the deal. Cue much disappointment from us (although I was delighted we'd got Nuddy)

Did used to disappear down N'dlovu Avenue a bit though. This was a small area of the pitch were he'd run into with the ball with zero ways out and no options to lay the ball off.

Disappointment? I don’t remember my reaction at the time being anything other than delight. We were getting rid of a player that had started to decline, getting an exciting player that had just had an excellent loan spell at Huddersfield, and we were somehow also getting quite a fair bit of cash. Not every deal Warnock did paid off, but this was in my mind one of his best. I hold it up there alongside the Wayne Quinn and Andy Gray deals in the pantheon of great sales.

Fantastic :D:D

I knew id named my fantasy league team after him for a reason. From russia with ndlovu

Aye, I think we got a million quid and Nuddy in exchange for Woodhouse. Great business.

Glad I'm not the only one who names a team after him. I've had Ndlovu In An Elevator, Ndlovu Rollercoaster and this season I'm on the Ndlovu Train. Might use Tainted Ndlovu after I have a bad season.

That Woodhouse deal was a great bit of business for a change.

No, I meant disappointment from us players. I was disappointed not to have been playing on the same team as NW.

I'd also missed out on the opportunity to turn out for the Blades themselves in Tobago in 2000 against the Tobago 1st X1. Blackwell went on instead as I'd had a few beers! He asked me if I wanted to go on - I could not find any boots either. Would have been in that book as well!

Tainted ndlovu is genius. I might have to nick that for next season :D
