God's country ...... Rovrum!
Apparantly, we had a loan offer for the fella rejected today by Villa.

He's considered at the moment as part of the 4 strikers needed at the club.

That could be true as Heskey might be on his way out to Leicester.

If true, it's promising about the calibre of player we're going after.

if he's as good for us if he signs as he was when i signed him on football manager it will be fantastic!! ;)

Rumours that he's the striker joining us.

If true, I'm a bit surprised that we're getting someone so highly rated. But he hasn't yet managed to start scoring the amount of goals that his hype has promised. Loan spells at Leicester and Burnley didn't help in that respect (he was mostly used as a sub), so maybe Danny Wilson used the Lowton transfer to negotiate a season long loan deal, and suggested that he'd get regular first team football here.

Ched Evans proved that it is possible for a struggling striker to start being effective under Danny Wilson in this league, and it may be tempting for Villa to see if the same can happen for Delfouneso next season. They will be hoping to send us a raw talent and get a goalscorer back in 12 months.

Or it may just be made up bullshit... :D

That really would be a cute piece of business Bergen. Fingers (and toes) crossed.

Just spoken to a good friend of mine who supports Villa and he says:

The “Fonz” is an enigma, quick but light weight and hasn’t broken through and is further down the pecking order than ever. Needs toughening up – perhaps SUFC are the club to do it.

Doesn't sound like he has a future at Villa unless he performs well on loan.

We need mobility but will he be tough enough and score goals if he comes ?

We sell a highly rated right back to a premiership club and there are rumours of loans the other way.Hmmmm have we been here before.............. anyone would think its a ploy to deflect from the bad news

Would be a great signing but can't see it happening unfortunately.
Think he is a bit too out of our league, if he goes on loan I'd imagine it would be to a championship side.

If it happens though think he will be ideal to partner a big lad like Porter up front, but hopefully he has a bit of an eye for goal too as we have seen last season, pacey players are worth nothing with no end product (O'Halloran)

Hmmm. Aren't we still owed a Leeds young player; a spurs young player and a friendly against the seat chuckers?

I like Delfouneso a lot, and it would do his career no end of good to start playing and scoring regularly in the lower leagues. It would be a great move, improve his confidence which in turn tends to bring more goals, just look at Ched last season. For all those reasons I can't see it happening.

He's been released by Villa, handy looking player, never been prolific, but mainly used as a bit part player. Only 23, and over 50 England Youth Caps.

Thought he acted like a bit of a nob when he scored against the other week. It's a tricky game picking up players who've been highly thought of and kept on at the 'bigger' clubs until their early 20's without them making a break through. They must have ability otherwise they wouldn't survive that long, often more an attitude thing that holds them back.

I'd agree but for once i feel we have a manager that can sort out an attitude problem and unearth the raw talent.
What did he do against us? I sit in the John Street Stand so didn't really see what he did?

What did he do when he scored?

Not a lot, ran along the front of the kop giving it the 'hand to the ear, just couldn't see any need for it. Maybe it's a sign of getting old!
Yeah i saw it oakland,it weren't really called for but still could be a good signing for us as liaminho said.Let him cup his ears up to other peoples kops when he scores for us.

Having said all that i'd much rather have o grady over delfouneso any day.O grady works very hard, holds the ball up well, brings players into game and scores goals at this level.

I can see the o grady signing materialising tbh but i wouldn't mind if delfouneso came in either, whatever cloughy decides really, aslong as he doesn't bring paynter and fuckin decorator back.He ain't done much wrong cloughy but as signings go,this has to be one of the worst in the clubs history.

What's going on with the scouting finding new raw tallent and not looking at budding pre madonnas?
