Nathan Byrne on Saturday (Swindon #3)

I couldn't help but notice that for the majority of the first half, Nathan Byrne (Swindon's right back) had us all over the place. Pace, agile, skilful and creative and there were times where we could have easily given away a penalty when he entered the box, and he time and time again put the ball into the danger area. Fortunately, he was quiet in the second half but I don't think a signing like him would be bad at all!

Having already spent £1.5m on a certain bearded right back, I suspect that this is not a position high on the boards priority list anymore

I'm not particularly bothered where he plays doesn't have to be RB, but I was impressed with ability + determination (for a cheating bastard that is). Nothing bad with a spare RB eh.

He did look decent. What alarmed me in the firstn half though was how much space we kept allowing him.

Agree with Jehova, we afforded Swindon far too much room on the ball, this improved in the second half when we stopped their keeper from playing a 1-2 with his full back and bringing the ball out to more or less the centre circle!

I don't know if it was the game plan or not but I have never seen us defend so deep, (apart from cup games against the Prem sides) there was absolutely no closing down at all and we seemed content to let Swindon have the ball in their half and try and hit them on the break. It ultimately worked but it was a risky game plan as realistically they should have gone in maybe a couple up at the break.

We didn't stretch Byrne wide enough either. Adams had a good game but he was coming inside far too much instead of trying to pull their back 4 wider apart. Byrne has got some pace and a trick or two but he had very little to do defensively and therefore had the time and space to go forward.

"technically" he didn't play right back... More of a wing back. They had 3 central defenders

Great player though as I mentioned in another thread
