When Madine appears in club tracksuit do I allow the lad to have his picture taken with Madine or do I tell him to give it a miss?
Ask him to pick his favourite 3 and not to bother the others as they are busy. Hope to f**k he doesn't want Madine in his top 3!

Predicament.

We are over at the game this weekend and my young lad likes to get down to the lane early and get his picture taken with the players as they arrive. When Madine appears in club tracksuit do I allow the lad to have his picture taken with Madine or do I tell him to give it a miss?
I would let son have photo taken with him. If he does well fair enough, if not the Photoshop possibilities are endless :D or he could pull a face, pinch nose with thumb and finger or something

Let him. Why punish him for something Madine’s done? But you could explain to him you’re not happy with Madine’s signing and explain why, and let him make his own mind up. He may just decide to give it a miss anyway.

Depends on ones definition of “unprovoked”. I had a close friend in the police, he told me the number of times that fights are reported as unprovoked, then after investigation that’s never the case.

A typical event that can occur is Madine is behaving in an arrogant manner flaunting his wealth in the bar, so this Unitedite gives Madine the eye continuously staring showing his disgust, Madine sees this as provocation and goes over to ask what his problem is, they square up to each other and the Unitedite says im a blade and hate Owls, Madine sees this as an act of provocation so throws the first punch.

One person could say it was an unprovoked atrack, it was GM that walked over to the United fan and GM who threw the first punch. Another person could say the Unitedite was looking for trouble by eyeballing GM making it clear he didn’t like him.

I know from personal experience that the newspapers have no interest in the truth, they want to sell papers so try to create a headline grabbing story without stating factual lies.

So in this case the headline would be “unprovoked attack by a footballer”, that’s what people see then make a judgement without knowing the full facts.

By the way I’m NOT saying this is the case here, no idea as I wasn’t there im saying this type of misleading reporting has occurred many times in the past.

The unprovoked attack part was a direct quote from the presiding judge during sentencing.

That moment you realise that although your opinion is as valid as the next anonymous arsehole, you will never change anyone's mind on the interwebz.

if Madine comes in and we win say 5 on the bounce and he plays his part , all his past will melt away
if we draw a couple and lose a couple, he will be a divisive irritant we can wholly blame it on
Lundstram will love him as he wont be chief scapegoat any more

He slags our captain off. He's jailed for breaking one of our supporters jaw. He called me a piggy bastard and a fucking grunter while I was out with my Mrs. And I'm supposed to cheer for him and get behind him. Not a fucking prayer!

Support anybody wearing a United shirt trying to get one over a team trying to get one over us. I'll leave moral judgements to the likes of Jean Hatchet, the Courts, Jesus Christ and historians.

His past has melted away for a lot on here already.

Do I like Madine? Not in the least.

Is he a formidable centre-forward? I believe he is.

Do I ❤️ United. You bet. Truly, Madly, Deeply.

If GM succeeds in the next 6 months, will that benefit my club? Undoubtedly.

Is it madness to want a United player to fail? Bonkers.

Will I celebrate if GM scores? Absolutely. Why would I not celebrate a goal for United?

Anyone putting hostility towards a United player before supporting our club is in need of a physician, particularly with a golden prize within our grasp.

Post of the season so far.

Thanks for that.
My example of what can happen isn’t applicable here then.
Seems he sometimes can’t control himself when he’s drunk, let’s hope he’s grown up.

Not sure that's quiiiiite the case N20.

As much as I'm OK with the signing I can understand others having reservations. Last thing this club needs tho is fan on fan agro - both stances make sense. This is up to wilder and madine to make work.
Agree100%, I hate the distraction and potential split between us fans when there’s a common goal. An achievable one at that.

pretty much what I was going to say. Right or wrong, now he's signed 2 thirds of the posters on here have forgiven the guy, for signing for us. People are trying to mitigate it with various arguments none of which hold weight and also with name calling because juvenility wins the day. It's an indictment on society what people are willing to accept as long as the villain is their villain.

What would you rather us inferred immoral two thirds of fans do? (The two thirds following suite with our manager, players and backroom staff btw).

Let's not forget it hasn't been a forum poll that us two thirds have swung which has signed him.

Odds on some scrapping in the stands tomorrow when someone calls Madine all the names under the sun and then someone pulls them up on it must be short. The irony will be that both individuals will probably be under the influence!

And potentially banned by the club for violent behavior.

Unless either or both could improve an SUFC department and they be offered a decent contract with a view to permanent employment .

You don't have to do anything, everybody in the poll has shown their feelings it's a reflection of society. If this was Wednesday or Leeds signing him we'd be all over it saying what scum their fans were etc

Has anyone actually “forgiven” him or are you using the word for dramatic effect?

Some are putting the benefit of the club first. It’s what a lot of football fans do. I can’t see anyone forming a Madine fan club as things stand.

I don’t want him here but what can I do? I’m not going to boycott anything because he’s here and I doubt many will. When it comes to football, even over a low life like Madine, there really isn’t much high moral ground to take. As the Evans final outcome proved.

But you've said my acceptance (ie doing nothing) of the situation is an indictment on society. So what do the apparent nothing-doing majority have to do to not be said indictment?

Life isn't black and white. This is a prime example. We're somehow in a position now where there are only two views on Madine. You're either embracing the signing, willingly forgetting his checkered past, not caring for the victims. Or you're not happy with the signing and desperately want both Madine and the club to fail as a result.

I highly doubt many people at all fall into either of those camps. Let's all stop assuming that we do. Most are somewhere in the middle, if at slightly different ends of the spectrum.

It's fair to feel dismayed that people are so quick to defend Madine's past now he's a Blade. It's equally fair to be annoyed that not everyone is jumping on board with the signing when we're in such a good position in the league and Wilder has earned our trust. But I hope everyone sees that there are nuances to this, and not everyone will agree all of the time. Christ, it would be boring if we did.

That just demonstrates what fucking nonsense most football banter is. The pretence that supporters of other clubs are hugely different from supporters of another club and that the supporters are somehow responsible for things that their clubs do.

The people who voted that they agreed with the signing are accepting everything that comes with this person, there is no need to declare that he is forgiven, by virtue of accepting the signing that is a given. The poll gave a true indication of people's feelings but nothing was going to come from it, it was as anonymous as you wanted your vote to be and it wasn't hi-jacked (as the comments since have proved).
As for benefitting the club this waits to be seen but as I have previously pointed out he's played about 90 minutes of football this season he isn't going to be match fit and even at his peak he was making a contribution to a goal every 3 games.

If fans on this forum didn't want Madine because of his behaviour or his ability (although that seems to have been overlooked) they would've voted 'not happy ' with the signing, there was never going to be an outcome from this other than a set of data. I reiterate the vast majority, now that he's signed are happy, he's made the right noises and a lot of Blades seem to think because of this and that Wilder sanctioned it it's ok.
