Just got back.
Let's face it, we were crap
Defensively we looked extremely poor and they just ripped us apart. Bromby was a repeat offender for getting caught by his man (the ball hit him for his goal!). Jagielka was clumsy in his challenges thus earning him a booking. Harley looked to be chasing the game when Leicester were in possession.
Tonge in midfield was dire. It was soon apparent that he's lost his blinding pace. That lad needs a good kick up the arse because the way he's playing now, he doesn't deserve a starting place. Nalis looked riled at times, not the Nalis we saw in pre-season but maybe the opposition (his old club) brought out a more rash side in him, time will tell. Ifill impressed, he has pace, strength and skill and his positioning off the ball is excellent. Good goal with his head, again, because of his position. Monty, ever the fighter, seemed to be the only one challenging some times.
Gray (get your hands down) had a better game than I've seen him for a while but he's not at his best. Release your man Gray, tends to make you get away quicker. Ain't rocket science. Still, calm and collected for the penalty (was a bit worried after the one he skyed at Worksop). Webber showed some very good touches and made the most of the poor service. He's like lightening and has some crafty tricks.
Subs:
Kabba: looked a lot stronger today than in the past, didn't go to ground as quick. Wasn't too sure he'd score from the penalty as his run up looked too short but the ball was well placed. Hassled their defenders.
Gillespie: Fitted into the team well. His touch was excellent and instrumental. Still nifty despite his age.
Shipperley: Many slagged him when he signed for the club but he can obviously do a job for us. Big (all muscle) and strong, he can hold the ball up for the faster but weaker players (Webber and Kabba) to run off him. Seems to be the 05/06 equivalent of Chief.
What the hell the defence were doing for their goal? They just watched the ball bounce off the ref and into the path of a running Leicester player. Not good enough I'm afraid.
Upfront = excellent
Midfield = room for improvement
Defence= bollocks
Still, we're top of the league
and with a decent goal difference.
Watford are one up at PNE and Derby and Brighton are drawing 1-1.
