JCR was ineffective throughout , not one forward ball or cross comes to mind
need 11 contributing on the park had far less than that first half

JCR is only ineffective IMO because of the dreadful state of the rest of the team. Every other midfielder is desperate to get rid of the ball/pass to JCR to do all the work.

As for Baxter, said long before today his game/fitness etc. is much better suited to being a bench/impact player.

Got to say that their second goal was very lucky - though our first had a lot of luck too. Baxter saved us at the end. Hindsight is easy , but dropping him was probably a mistake.

What was lucky about it. Genuine question. For me (100 yards away though) it looked like basic your ball hesitation between Edgar and Howard, and Cole nipped in and took advantage. Is that not what happened?

Dropping Baxter was logical ...... not having a reliable defence and a functioning midfield when the season began WAS a serious mistake !!

I think we tend to agree on most things Mr Suffeaux but I think you are well wide of the mark regarding Freeman ,first name on team sheet for me along with Sharp and Howard.

Sharp and Basham

After that draw it out of a bag. Each to their own but I know the difference between a good player and a bang average one.

You do realise that Mourinho sold de Bruyne and dropped Oscar because they failed to track back?

Can you see him telling his full backs 'you'll have to mark two players because my wide players can't be arsed to do their defensive jobs'?

Let's agree to disagree. I must know nothing about defending. Makes me wonder how I did so well as one for so long.

OK. You fit for our next game? If you can play centre half that would be great.

My observation was the same as Tuesday. First half - play far too deep. Makes our midfielders look non existent and too much to do. This is probably due to our lack of pace at the back. Second half - pushed ten yards further forward we've compacted the space and look a different beast altogether.

Need someone in that back line to push us further up from the off.

I can also play right back but I realise we have a world beater there. It's just as well, I'm not trained to follow wingers until I'm nowhere near the play.

I'm with the OP on Freeman - bang average for the 3rd division - like too many of our squad.

Some seem to rate him. It's the same with Harris and McNulty, a number of supporters seem to rate them as well irrespective of their total lack of consistency.

I can only put it down to us being starved of genuine quality over the last few years.

Yep, agreed.

He, like most of our players, can "do a job". The problem is that you need 3 or 4 game changers in a team of this quality. Sadly, ours are injured. And we needed the 2 additions we failed to bring in during the transfer window.

Got to remember where we are ,if they were consistent they or us wouldn't be here.

Completely valid point although at some point you have to break the cycle to move forward. We stick with the same players that continue to fail which is why we don't.

Maybe a mistake but it gave him a reminder that he not indispensable. He worked much harder and fought to get his place back. Well done Adkins and Baxter

Speaking of penneth, has Collins got a fifty penneth he-ard or what? He must get about 10 free headers per season from corners and at least 9 of them fly over the bar.

My ten penneth is that after 8 games we're 5 points off the relegation places

Let's see where we are after 10 eh?

Just a home game against Donny and a trip to the league leaders before the month is out - that'll sort the men from the boys won't it?

For me, Freeman is a decent league 1 fullback who has time on his side to improve, is versatile and doesn’t spend a lot of time out injured.
For those reasons, he’s well worth having in our squad. He’s not in that group of 3 or 4 exceptional players that you probably need to get promoted and that change games but he’s a decent player (like Flynn, Harris, Basham etc). . Murphy was one of those players of extra quality. . Sharp might be one this year. Done and Brayford seem to be of that ilk too. Adams could be one but is very raw. We could do with having 3 or 4 playing all at once.
