What do you want?

Like most, I was watching this expecting us to be thoroughly battered. Who wouldn't? Man U are packed with international talent, we've been playing like bellends.

No idea what happened tonight. I am still trying to work out how we can suddenly reset to the first part of last season and not just 'pull off the result' as if it were lucky or we'd fluked it. We didn't. Front to back and with an intrinsically 'understrength' side we just soaked them up and made them look average. Yes, Manchester United, who this season are in resurgence, looked average. We outfought them and out thought them and even when we were under the cosh late on and everyone was shitting bricks, just summat told me we'd fucking win because we deserved it, and fuck me what a fucking dent that's put in their campaign. They expected to go top tonight. Lol. They looked for much of the game like they didn't have a clue how to deal with us, which was reminiscent of the first hour at BDTBL last season where they looked clueless. To watch them beaten from a corner and make a fucking glistening, peanutty, chunky old turd of Burke's goal was fucking majestic stuff.

I'm not giving marks, because it's pointless. They all get a ten, even my favourite midfielder.

Ramsdale - a much better and more confident outing. This was also much to do with a far more co-ordinated central three in front. Came and caught a couple of times - saved some and held on. Maybe he has turned a corner.
Baldock - Fought like a tiger and ran his fucking arse off tracking back and challenging
Basham - Still such a gifted, unorthodox player. One rick near the end, but who gives a fuck?
Jagielka - Man of the Match. Christ, how can you give a performance like that at 38 against a rapid, (supposedly) gifted front line who last time at OT shredded us? It was a vintage Jags outing in a Blades shirt which we'd have praised to hell back in the NW days
Ampadu - Another outstanding performance. Positionally he was on the point tonight because of the attacking midfield threat and did well to counter. That run near the end was pure fucking class
Bryan - Thought he did really well in an unfamiliar position, plenty of energy is if at times caught flat footed by Rashford
Lundstram - Now he knows he's staying, he's fighting for his shirt. Tonight he put himself about and got stuck in
Norwood - 10/10: There you go Oliver. You fucking deserved that. Not so much ping, but graft, plenty of involvement and some decent central passes to put Billy and Didsy in.
Fleck - Back to last season tonight. Dug out blind and refused to tire. So good to see him not dropping his head or making fuck ups and what a stage to get back to your best
McGoldrick - Still the go to bloke out of defence to hold and make use of the outlets. His offside chance - let's not talk about that.
Sharp - An utter menace. To see him ranged against fllow Blade Maguire was fucking brilliant and he didn't let them rest, all the way across the backline

Bogle - Thought he played really well, out of position. Tracked his players and made ventures up the line
Burke - What a fucking player. Welcome to the PL, you legend!
Brewster - Not much for the lad to do because by the time he came on, we were camped out on our 18 yd box

Wilder - Congratulations Chris. Your players gave the club credibility tonight and turned a lot of heads, and shut the laughing and sniggering bastards up. No Wilderball tonight. Just focussed determination, preventing Man U dominating, forcing them into errors instead of us an proving to be demoralising. We defended like Trojans and took the game to them and above all else, refused to give up. What a great night. Well fucking done!

grrrr ffs pommpey, I always look forward to your never ending jousts with all comers but there aint going to be any tonight. Oh well, roll on the Man City game.

As said mate - I will give praise where it is due. I can't fault any of them tonight. They won at Old Trafford against an expensively arranged side on the uppers.

Here it is from me - anyone who criticises that performance tonight is a fucking pigfan

And THAT'S swearing

;)

Maybe you can stop the formation is to blame nonsense now 😉

We play well and we give anyone a game playing the Sheff United way...

There's always one.

Just explain the other defeats, please?

Tonight Man U couldn't deal with our formation, coupled with a very spirited determination.

If we pull off a win against Citeh, maybe I will agree with you.

We have a long way to go.

Good read out mate.

There’s some hypocrites on here wanting CW out and Norwoods shite at one point and now they are the bees knees after beating Man U at Old Trafford! Been saying all along CW is the man and Norwoods the Central cog! Get back in the woodwork you Sean Bean hypocrites!😉😉

Fuck me, pot/kettle?

Where were you when Norwood was looking like dogshit vs Spurs (and others)

Oh yeah. In the woodwork.

Let's not get too carried away, eh?

pommpey

I'm usually optimistic, but couldn't see us getting any type of result tonight, but we deserved it, everyone of them were brilliant..funny old game innit. UTMFB!

Well said Pommpey
Praise em when it’s deserving like tonight , every bloody one of em
That was our team back tonight
We might ( should get turned over by shitty ) but tonight that’s shut all the Dum pigs 🐷 up
Criticize em when they play shit as they have most of season and they deserved it
But tonight I’m proud of my team once again

Seems to me that the worst team in prem history is very unlikely to finish bottom this season, hows that work you piggy twats et al.
Jags may have turned our season with that performance- what an absolute Blades legend. UTFMB and let’s ignore that Norwood give way near the end....

Fair do's Pompney.
I thought I was watching a different side. Ramsdale had his easiest game of the year!

Up the Blades!

R.e the defeats...
I think we have had a perfect storm of bad luck... covid, key players getting injured, key players nose diving in form, difficult runs of fixtures...

Impossible to prove but if Egan doesn't get(wrongly) sent off at Villa I belive the season might have panned out quite differently.

Confidence is key and I'm not sure things could have gone worse for us, hopefully we can put up a good fight for the rest of the season.

So what the fuck changed tonight? We were back to early last seasons Sheffield United 10/10 for all of them from me, the perfect away performance and a thoroughly deserved win and 3pts. Fuck the commentators and pundits it isn't all about what Manchester did wrong the original UNITED did so much right tonight, get in ⚔️ ⚔️ ⚔️ ⚔️

Covid and a difficult run of fixtures? Just playing devil's advocate here but surely Covid affects every team in the league. And we all play the same teams the same number of times. mebbe in a different order but they're the same teams the same number of times. And do you really think one guy getting sent off in one of the earliest games of the season has shaped the rest of the season that much?
I agree with the confidence/ momentum train of thought but really I think those others are just excuses.

The performance tonight didn't particularly remind me of last season, maybe the Everton away game apart, but it was like when we beat Brentford 2-0 when Madine got sent off. The back three were lions, we were organised, we kept our shape and crucially we didn't make any stupid errors and even when they did get past one of our players, a team mate was on hand to help out.

Fair play to Norwood after his awful display against Spurs, to come back and put in a really solid performance.
