I read this last night, slept on it and re-read it this morning. It's sadly accurate. The hope that we have each game (and I had some last night as Everton didn't look great) is extinguished by the ineptitude of most of the players (Basham, McGoldrick Egan and Baldock being the exceptions), and the baffling team selections and crazy substitutions. For all the money spent, even if this is minimal by PL standards, we have a team which week in and week out looks like a plucky but not very good L1 side practising minimal damage in the hope of getting lucky in an unlikely penalty shootout.
Keep up the good work Pommps!

I guess Mousset is not totally fit ??

No way. I mean, he's been a total rock up front for us and opposition defences have kicked the living shit out of him game after game. Hates the treatment table and is out there on the line up every week, strapping, steroids and painkillers, ready to run at whoever is out there, dangerous as fuck.

:D

Yes Pommey leave the politics out of it!
Wilder appears to be Bojo's new secret weapon. Now Trump has more or less gone, Bojo could, in all honesty, point to how things are at BDTBL and say "look lads, things could still be worse!". It does pain me to say that, but there you go!

But he's had a poorly toe. No wonder Bournemouth let the lightweight come to us. No wonder we signed him. And fuck me, he's one of our better signings😭

By 'us', you mean 'the team and staff'. Unless you're part of that setup, I can't see how you can vicariously claim association of my critique.
Again just over the top childish nonsense. We both know what I mean by us, such a pathetic thing to pick up on.

You seem to be calling people mardy who aren't throwing their toys out the pram. Which is funny. And for the record I think we are 100% down so certainly not shying away from the reality.
our brief flirtation with the top flight, as wonderful as it was last year, is now over.
Ye I'm sure you found it wonderful. So wonderful you absolutely hammer the man who gave it us at the first real rough patch in his time here. I imagine if you met wilder you'd shit yourself and do nowt but suck up.

It points toward the fact that you can't debate it
Like I said too childish to debate. You gave wilder 0 lol. You also say the only thing keeping wilder in a job are the last few seasons. Brilliant point. So stupid to take into account a mangers job performance in previous seasons isnt it.

Your reply sums up what I find so irritating. The passion and desire you have to explain that we're shit. Do you not ever just feel sad and upset that this group of players who have taken us on a journey beyond what we could ever have hoped for is now crumbling? Nah you've clearly sat writing out your post slating them all from the second the final whistle went to the time you posted it.

He also needs to take into account that a lot of us have been 'chests out' and strutting our stuff for the past few years, and now a lot of us are glad there's a fucking lockdown of sorts on and we don't have to account for this dogshit to our workmates and colleagues
This about wilder. What does that even mean? What do you want him to do to take into account any of that? Utter shite you're talking there. Please show your "workings".

I wouldn't have commented but think your replies to people who disagree we're very harsh.

Oh, and here you go (since 1997, back on SUISA) ...

'pommpey'

Suck it up, buttercup

I too enjoyed reading the OP and agree with much of what was said .

For some reason my copy of the OED does not give a definition of the word ‘pisswankcuntshit’ . Given the context in which it was written , I assume it is along the lines of ...” extremely good or of exceptional quality “ , but will stand corrected if anyone knows better .

Bless, again.

Again just over the top childish nonsense. We both know what I mean by us, such a pathetic thing to pick up on.

Not really. You seem to have a closer set association to the team and staff than many of us. When you say 'we', does that not include 'me' as that subset as I am a Sheffield United supporter? Or is that childish, too? You're clearly spiked by this, aren't you?

You seem to be calling people mardy who aren't throwing their toys out the pram. Which is funny.

No (again). I'm calling people like you mardy, because people like me are writing horrid fings about the dismally weak Sheffield United, and your dummy is out of the pram and on the carpet with pubs and doghair on it. And now you're rooering as well, with snot running down your top lip and drool hanging off your bottom lip.

And for the record I think we are 100% down so certainly not shying away from the reality.

Oh good. So we agree. Strange how you've got sand in your vadge on how we both approach that conclusion though. Did you watch the match last night? Great weren't 'we'?

Ye I'm sure you found it wonderful. So wonderful you absolutely hammer the man who gave it us at the first real rough patch in his time here.

So how long do we have to endure dismal perfomances before we're allowed to even suggest he's possibly got it wrong, in your opinion? I mean, if he's still here in five years and we're propping up the leagues (it's happened before) what is the threshold of decline where you'll allow us to say, 'You know, Wilder needs to change the formation possibly'? I don't know if you're paying attention, but at no time have I suggested we get rid of Wilder. It's a small detail, but possibly your tears have blinded your understanding. I have suggested that being as we are now in the big boys league and £130m has been spunked on a shower of fucking duds (prove me wrong, I dare you) and cash is transacting like never before in and out of our club thanks to sponsorship, wages, promotionals, TV rights, then the loss of this because he is consistently playing a failing formation and tactics might wear a bit thin with the board - regardless of what they are publicly saying. As above, it's happened before. So I'm not 'hammering' him at all. I actually like Wilder, a lot, and right now, him leaving the club would be a disaster. So I hope I have made that very clear. If not, you can take your opinion on my opinion, lie on your side, roll it into a small cigar shape, lift one knee, moisten it, then slide it up your farter.

I imagine if you met wilder you'd shit yourself and do nowt but suck up.

Ooooh. pommpey's not 'hard' enough to say it to his face trope. Who's fucking childish now?

Like I said too childish to debate. You gave wilder 0 lol.

Did you actually use 'lol' there? Seriously?

You also say the only thing keeping wilder in a job are the last few seasons. Brilliant point. So stupid to take into account a mangers job performance in previous seasons isnt it.

Prove me wrong, then? Have previous PL managers survived such a dismal set of results in the past? If so, who? And if you can find me one, maybe two, then measure that against previous managers aplenty who have not even made it to the 'give him ten games' barrier, even with a couple of wins. There's loads. Off you trot and find them. That's called 'showing your working out'.

Your reply sums up what I find so irritating. The passion and desire you have to explain that we're shit.

So you agree we're shit? It's just the amount of effort I make to explain that which pinches your ballbag, huh? Okay. If I just said, 'fuck me we are shit', would that make all the crossness and tears go away? Tell you what, here's a shortcut. When you see 'My take ... ' again (because fuck me, I'm not stopping now, believe me) just don't open the thread and scroll the fuck past. Alleviate your broken heart and don't read my naughty words. Just flick the finger and fuck off through until you find one that says 'Tonite we weare brillyant!' and fill your fucking boots. Seriously ... you're wasting your time with me. There's so many posts on last night's game on S24SU extolling th mastery of our game and Wilder's brilliance with his tactics, and how unlucky we always seem to be to have lost all them games.

Do you not ever just feel sad and upset that this group of players who have taken us on a journey beyond what we could ever have hoped for is now crumbling? Nah you've clearly sat writing out your post slating them all from the second the final whistle went to the time you posted it.

Some of them have taken us on the journey. Some are still delivering, Some fading fast, Some have joined and are fucking worthless. Some never were PL standard. Do you disagree? Don't just say 'no'. Show me why.

This about wilder. What does that even mean? What do you want him to do to take into account any of that? Utter shite you're talking there. Please show your "workings".

Figure it out. Everyone else has.

I wouldn't have commented but think your replies to people who disagree we're very harsh.

Diddums. And your intervention is working wonders, isn't it?

Good. And it's you saying I'm childish bringing up the 'we' bit yet you're down on me for

My take on My Take:

Always entertaining and a good read. You know what you will get, i.e. a no-holds-barred assessment that will be fun to read but obviously goes in with both feet. If you haven't watched the game yet and read only My Take, you know it definitely won't have been any worse than pommpey called it. That's a given for any game. Your praise is certainly infinitely harder to earn than your creative ire. 😁

As you do not like it ad hominem but want people's views, here is my personal view of the match. We were poor and are down. I was disappointed because after Brighton, I felt this was the one we would win. Everton and Newcastle are the two crappy teams way higher in the table than they should be. Were we atrocious? I did not think we were. We are clearly devoid of confidence, which in my view makes insistence on a changed system almost futile. At the moment, these players will not perform in any formation. We are Norwich Post-Lock-Down Mark II.

Because of the now complete lack of future prospects for this season, unlike after Brighton and Man U, I took no positives. I felt quiet disappointment, not acute pain like Leicester or Southampton. The final whistle had me accepting relegation, where before I kind of assumed romantic escape still to be possible.

Having said that, this was a rainy, boring, dreadful 0-0 if ever I saw one. Everton knew we have mistakes in us and when they materialized, they took one of only two chances I recall.

That does not mean they deserved the win or had us sussed with some inevitability of winning. They were crap, too.

Anyway, we were poor enough for me to know without reading what kind of artillery you would wheel out. As every week I read it and smiled. I like it and it has its place, but of course it is not a surprise. My Take is pommpey doing pommpey things. For several decades since SUISA as you pointed out.

Where I often also smile, however, when I follow discussions you are involved in is your reaction to people viewing your viewpoints as incendiary or not helpful for debate. It adds to the intrigue of the phenomenon pommpey that you seem surprised and belligerent every time it happens and quickly do your play the post not the poster response - or variations thereof.

So, as a matter of principle and away from the issues discussed in this thread, would you not agree that you have a very distinctive writing style that would allow any reader on here to pick out a pommpey post from a sample of five other randomly picked posts almost without fail, irrespective of the topic you post on?

A style that is entertaining, no doubt, but deliberately uses both creative swearing, strong symbols and exaggeration to make a point and make people laugh and think? The position you take on most issues would also rarely be surprising to regular posters who have read you before which in no way evaluates the merits of what you say, of course. Yours is always one of several perfectly valid viewpoint to hold. You are never a lunatic, just always heavily pronounced.

Having said that, my personal take would be that your distinctive style will never facilitate compromise. And that is despite loving to read what you write because you are a talented and creative writer. And a man of your control over language obviously has the option how to colour words or pitch his tone, depending on the topic of discussion.

So how can you still appear to be surprised by or get engaged in these little spats, pretending to yourself and others that all you are about is positions - never the way you deliver them? Of course, your style creates division for people who do not like your deliberately over the top stylings aimed at something they love so dearly, irrespective of the current quality on offer. Just by way of illustration: My partner may well be ugly these days, but I would dread to read Your Take on her, if you know what I mean?

So you are indeed clear and helpful on most things. But your clarity isn't of the type likely to create middle ground on any issues. In my view, of course.

My take on My Take:

...
Agree on a lot of what you put there. I d get pissed off at people who lack any capability to debate and instantly get personal and combative when it comes to posters who deign to write, even criticise SUFC. It's not a fresh thing ... I have been giving reviews of sorts for some years and like Deadbat, whose own extremely detailed and bloody good accounts and ROYs valuable and unmissable inputs, we all have people who just can't resist playing the man and not the ball. I can take posters saying 'you're talking out of your arse' but to that end, I'd like to know why. I have lost count of the amount of online debates I have been thoroughly rinsed by someone who either has a better and more compelling argument, or who has the facts and the truth to hand. The Desso and our years in decline is a case in question. But some of the contributors on this very thread show more of their deeper seated psychosis than they think. It would be better to read the words thoroughly and if you disagree entirely but can't be fucking arsed answering, just leave it and move on. It says more about you if you simply post something up to stir the pot. And yes, I reserve the right to respond to these, within my own thread, so I will, and I have.

I feel sometimes the truth (about United) really hurts. It did with Desso, the years in the wilderness and McCabe and it does today with our collapse and decline. Wilder is a vast totemic figure in our history and I feel still has some tread on his tyres but the truth which overlies his legend is that he is seemingly not recognising what is not working this season. And it isn't just two or three games of dogshit (like under Clough and Adkins) but consistent, disappointing submission and clearly a detrimental effect on the players. Now I could submit a Deadbat-style journalistic piece which has every nuance of the game and then an almost Sky Sportsesque breakdown in the studio afterwards, but what's the point? He manages that pretty bloody excellently and yeah, if it's TL/DR for you then 'don't read it', but I feel it makes a good roll through and find myself agreeing with much, if not all of it. But what would be the point of me repeating such an exercise? I'm not in competition with Deadbat, so I don't try (I don't have his patient, detailed eye, for a start) but even he gets pelters (some personal) even though many of these paperboy trolls never deign to offer any such rhyme or reason why they disagree. It would help. To them it's 'someone slagging off their club' and it's kryptonite. 'My take ... ' is 'my take'. It's practically the words me and my buddy in Sheffield - both lifelong Blades - discuss both at half time and at full time after every game. It's a pub discussion. Nothing more. And if someone off another table in that pub leaned across and said 'Stop slagging Wilder off!' I don't doubt other people in the discussion would either agree of disagree, and I would certainly ask them to justify that, or if they can't, fuck off and mind their own business.

Anyway, it would be nice if one day I could give a 'My take ...' and it would be glowing praise on a well-deserved victory where we controlled the game and made the opposition look piss poor. As I say though, unless Wilder does something radical with this situation and stops moving the deckchairs about whilst the mighty leviathan goes down bows-first (and it's deep water, as we have found out last decade) then SUFC are doomed, and maybe so is he.
