In my opinion half of our problem with signing players comes from the fact that we are, like it or not, a league 1 club. Yes we do have excellent facilities fan base etc but our players still have to travel to Fleetwood Burton etc. and play in the farce that is the JPT. Yes we should be able to out spend others in this league but we are not man city we can't just sign anyone we want. The players we look at have got to want to play league one football. Would Sharp have signed had he not been a Blade? I think this squad is capable of going up with a few quality additions rather than the drastic overall many have been calling for. Not to make excuses but Brayford, Done and Harris would have all been starters this season so there are at least positives to take there. Everyone wants a 25 goal a season striker and we've got on! The hardest piece of the puzzle if you like. What we know need is two quality centre mids. One box to box type player who is athletic and adds going forward (coady esque) and another to control the midfield and pick a pass. Wallace may be our answer to the first one but I'm beginning to lose patience with his injuries. Signing two midfielders allowing Basham to go back to centre half would mean we have a centre half who is dominate in the air but more importantly comfortable on the ball and willing to carry the ball. Half our problems come from teams closing us down and us having no outlet in defence so we result to hoof ball giving away possession. This team has more than enough attacking quality we just need to be have a little more quality on the ball.
