The unfortunate fact about these goals is that some people have become totally blinkered about every other aspect of his game. He is the most ineffective Sheffield Utd striker I have ever seen in forty four years.

It seemed like they weren't putting in 100% to me especially first half. No movement, no pressing.

Porter gets far too much stick from fans. Yes he isnt the best finisher but he does bring others into the game well but people dont see that side of his game. Blokes walking behind us through St Marys Church ground on Sat were slagging him off big time, never wins a header cant pass to others etc.

Could opinion of Porter be likened to that of Emile Heskey? Never scored that many goals over his career but did have a part to play at times for his teams. Was mocked time and time again but people still seemed to have a soft spot for him at the end of the day?

Our Ports always grafts hard and especially so in the bigger games. His work rate doesn't win games alone but that doesn't justify the amount of stick he gets. Hull don't score that many so as long as he can pave the way for some creativity from our strong, attack minded midfield he will have done his job for me.

he came as a striker. .wilson put him on the wing.. mind you mata was an international centre mid and Moyes put him on the wing so what do i know??

Not so SP - he was a central striker at junior level until he became a pro at Motherwell then he moved to the wing as he was deemed a bit too lightweight to be placed in the centre. There was an interview on this very thing recently - think it was a James Shield one but can't find a linky - anyway now Murph has got to grips with the much more physical game in England he is keen to be in either position - it appears the game plan is to utilise his pace as a winger initially and then put him in the middle to take advantage of tirign centre backs after they have been bashed about a bit from the likes of Porter or Paynter or run ragged chasing Baxter
